This is a fantastic commencement speech given by Donovan Livingston, a M.Ed. student from Harvard. His spoken word about how the education system treats students of color is extremely powerful! Take the 5 minutes and dig in! (I took a page of notes!)

I came across a post on shankerinstitute.org which lead me to a research article, both speaking about school suspensions. I will share both the blog and the research in its entirety. If you take the time to read the research, it has the potential to greatly change the way in which you view punishment and consequences in a school setting.
The research:
Collateral Consequences of Exclusionary Punishment in Public Schools
The blog:
New Research On School Discipline
