4th Grade Science with Mr. McIntosh
Looking Back -
Hot and cold – how does thermal energy move from one object to another. This was our focus this week as we explored the transfer of energy through conduction, convection, and radiation. This will give us a starting point for examining the uses of energy for heating, cooling, producing light, and more.
Looking Ahead –
Next week is the beginning of our exploration of the uses of energy in many creative ways. From refrigerators to light bulbs to solar panels, we are constantly looking for new ways to convert energy as a tool for improving our lives.
Special Note: You will see two more Stride Science lessons on your weekly schedule. Try to devote one hour (or two 30 minute sessions) to these lessons each week.
Science News for the Week: Since we are studying energy, let’s investigate one use of electric power that is very popular today. Electric cars are being produced in greater numbers, but this is not a new idea. In this radio segment from ScienceFriday, you can hear about the history of electric cars from 100 years ago.
