LETTER FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL
Hello Bobcats Families!
Hello Bobcat Families!
October is coming to an end and November is upon us. With that comes our annual Parent/Teacher Conferences. Our teachers have been busy planning for these meetings and some have actually already begun having them. Attending Parent/Teacher Conferences is a critical piece in ensuring the success of your child here at Santa Rita. If you have not already done so, please be sure to select a day/time with your child’s teacher to meet with them.
Thank you to everyone who came to Witches Delight and all of those who put so much time in volunteering to make the event such a wonderful success. A huge thank you to Dolly and Herb Marshall, our Chairpeople of Witches Delight and all the leads that jumped right in and took on more than they were asked to do.
Tomorrow at lunch, students can try out their 'candy picking' devices at lunch during our STEM Challenge.
Halloween is Monday! If you and your students plan to go Trick-or-Treating here are a few tips to keep everyone safe.
Next week, Nov 3 from 7-8pm, we invite all new families to come and learn more about Santa Rita. Please let anyone you know with TK/Kinder incoming students or others looking for a change to come and learn more.
Happy almost November everyone!
Stay Bobcat Strong!
Kelly Rafferty, Principal

Tech Challenge
The Tech Challenge was created to introduce students to engineering — especially its invaluable role in solving real-world problems. This summer we designed a new challenge that explores how we can use engineering to provide protection against high winds. We hope that youth can learn empowering lessons during this year’s program about how the engineering skills they develop can improve the outcomes of future extreme weather events.
The scenario: Storm patterns are changing and bringing strong winds that create increased danger. Can you use your engineering skills to defend against high wind conditions?
The Challenge: Build a structure to protect vulnerable objects from extreme winds.
Teams that register by Nov. 30, 2022 will be mailed a free anemometer to use during home testing.
Events: Kickoff is Saturday, Oct. 29. Make sure you sign up for our info clinic, adviser training and team workshop. Registration for these events is available on our website.
Additional dates for events that will help you get the most out of your experience are also on the website. If you have any questions, please contact LASD’s Instructional Support Teacher - Grace Choi, gchoi@lasdschools.org.
