3. Book Fair, Nov 23/24
Dear Parent and Families,
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! We invite you to share in this celebration of books and reading with us.
Students will visit the Book Fair during class time and can purchase books during that visit or join for a special shopping time during Parent/Teacher Interviews. If you are unable to visit the Fair, look over the Scholastic Book Fair flyer and use the Student Wish List form to select books. Then, simply send it and the correct amount of money to school with your child.
Take a moment to look for the Classroom Wish List display. This is for parents interested in helping us build classroom libraries. By purchasing books and donating them to your child’s teacher, you give students even greater access to books.
We hope you will join us at the Book Fair.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Allen
Book Fair Chairperson
P.S. Did you know that for every $10 you spend at the book Fair, up to $6 goes back to our school? This allows us to purchase needed books and educational resources.
Book Fair Dates: November 22, 23, 24
Times: 9:15am – 3:30pm
Location: École Rocky Elementary School Library
Open during Parent/Teacher interview times. Nov. 23 & 24
We accept cheques made payable to our school.
We will have a Debit Machine.
Visa, MasterCard and American Express are welcome, too.

6. Grandparents Talent Show!
- Our grandparents have really special talents and we want to see them!
- Please encourage students to think about the talents their grandparents have and then create a video submission of the talent. Talents might be: knitting, cooking, collecting old cars, musical, reciting a poem, giving the best hugs, etc.
- Video submissions can be made through our Flip link until Dec 15 - https://flip.com/b1448b69
- We will watch the grandparent talents at our Dec 22 assembly as a special Christmas Gift to ourselves
- We have 2 entries but looking for many more!
7. Caretaker positions
- Do you know someone who is looking for a full or part time job? The custodial division of WRSD is always looking for casual, temporary and permanent caretakers. The postings for these positions can be found in the Careers and Volunteer Opportunities section of the WRSD website and applying online is quick and easy!
8. School Parking
Like most schools, we have limited parking around our school which is often over capacity before and after school. Please allow yourself 5-10 extra minutes for parking during high peak times directly before and after school.
Most importantly - be extra mindful to watch for students when driving near the school. Peace Officers and RCMP often patrol in front of the school to ensure safety. A few good reminders:
- School Zones are 30 km/h.
- There are marked Accessible Parking spots in front of the school for those with Accessible Parking Permits
- There is a No Parking sign near the crosswalk to ensure those crossing can be easily seen by vehicles.
- Please use the marked crosswalks when crossing the street.
9. Fundraisers
The School Society has a poinsettia and wreath fundraiser running Nov 1-21. Delivery will be Dec 7. Online orders can be made at: https://eres.growingsmilesfundraising.com/home

10. This & That
- School health continues to be very good and improved over the past two years. So far this year, we are averaging 3.5% ill on a given day which is well below the 10% that Alberta Health considers a possible outbreak.
- Photo retakes from Nov 4 have been rescheduled to Nov 23, 9 am
- We wish our Family Wellness Worker Mrs. Cinnamon a wonderful maternity leave. We look forward to some baby news in the next few weeks :) We are glad to welcome back Mrs. Breanna Harder (formally Hurley) as our Family Wellness Worker during Mrs. Cinnamon's leave. Mrs. Harder officially starts with us November 21.
- Our next assembly is November 30 at 2:00 pm. ERE families are invited to attend.
- Free breakfast is served every morning in our front foyer 8:20 - 8:40 am. All students are welcome to grab a bite to eat.
- With skating season, we have noted a few gaps in our school supply of skates. We are seeking donations of size 10/11 figure skates & size 3-9 hockey skates.
- If your child will be absent from school, please connect with our Student Attendance Line by phone 1-855-756-2797 or use the School Messenger App
- If at all possible, when paying for items like agendas, field trips or swimming, please pay through School Cash Online located at: https://wildrose.schoolcashonline.com/ This greatly reduces the chances of lost money or discrepancies in payments made.
- Our school website is regularly updated with important dates, school newsletters, and useful links along with information about the school. https://ecolerocky.wrsd.ca/
- Social Media - The school regularly updates our Facebook and Twitter accounts with good news stories and upcoming events. Please consider giving us a follow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ecolerockyelementary and Twitter: https://twitter.com/EREPeace
