This is a copy of the learning plan that is included in your box from school.

Dear Ellsworth School Families,

The middle school teachers have put together a learning plan for our extended closure. Attached you will find office hours, homework due dates, REMIND codes, and instructions. As a staff we have chosen one platform, Google Classroom, for your child to receive all of their information from their teacher. Your child is familiar with Google Classroom because it was used in the classroom prior to the shutdown. Please have your child log into their Google Classroom account to show you their classrooms. If a teacher did not use it before the shutdown, the teacher now is using it. If you as a parent would like to delve deeper into the workings of Google Classroom, a link is provided for you. Print material will be available for any family that does not have internet access with instructions as needed.

It is very important for everyone to work together by communicating with the teachers if you encounter any technical difficulties or have other questions. Students are able to privately message teachers through their google classrooms. Continually, teachers have dedicated office hours for each class as shown in the schedule below. Teachers can hold live meetings using Zoom at the scheduled time. As teachers, we would like your child to login daily to their email and Google Classroom to check to see what work they have for each of their classes. Our hope is that your child spends no more than 30 minutes a day on each subject, and Fridays open for a make-up day which will allow learning to take place without frustration. Each teacher will have office hours available for your child to reach out and talk using Zoom which is an online video conferencing tool, or your child can email a teacher for additional help. Each teacher has a day for homework to be turned in. For example, math usually has a daily homework assignment, but during the closure all math homework will be due on Mondays.

The Ellsworth Community School staff is here to help you through this unprecedented time. This remote learning plan will help maintain a sense of normalcy and structure for your students. It is important to note that this is new for all of us and we will all work together to give your students a positive learning experience.

The username is first and last name together with first letters capitalized (Ex. EthanTornga)
The password is the first 4 letters of the last name and the last 4 digits of an assigned ID number (Ex. Torn5873) This number will be given to you by one of your teachers.

How to join a class on REMIND:

Join by text:
Participants text a unique class or school code to a Remind phone number. For U.S teachers, the Remind number is 81010. For example, if you wanted to join a class with the class code @math, you would text @math to 81010.

Students will be given an iReady lesson that is teacher assigned. The iReady teacher assigned lesson should take a combined 45-60 minutes to complete.
There would be an additional iReady 45 minutes weekly practice goal of My Path lessons.
I’ll also give interactive Math Scholastic or other activities that they can do to supplement iReady.

SOCIAL STUDIES

6th and 7th Grade: World Geography:

Announcements will be posted in World Geography in Google Classroom. (I reset the class code to epeskpi, but they should still have access since they all joined it earlier in the year). Students receive email notification when something is posted in Google Classroom, so they should be checking email at least once a day if possible.

IXL for geography practice- especially identifying countries. Link is posted in Google Classroom. I will be assigning sections and checking in on their progress.
