If you plan on joining us, please gather outside the main doors lining the sidewalk. Following the 3rd grade parade, all other classes will get their lunches and meet in the playground area. You can meet your child/children there.
If you plan on taking your BES student home with you following the picnic, make sure you check out with your child's homeroom teacher. They will have your report cards for you at check out. Following checkout at 12:00, families can enter the building and pick up their child's belongings from their cubbies prior to leaving and starting Summer Break.

Get "Brookwood Booked!"
We hope you get Brookwood Booked! Our first round of drop offs will happen today! Our GCJ2 Family Engagement Team is SO excited to share with you our Brookwood Book Bags where our team has filled these special bags with books for YOU. These bags will be dropped off at random Brookwood Family houses and we ask that you and your family pick a book or two to keep to engage in literacy with your child at home. Then, in the bag you will find an envelope with window clings in it. Post a window cling on a front window signifying that you've been Brookwood Booked and then pass the bag and clings onto another Brookwood Family's house!! If you aren't sure of a house to drop it off at ---bring it back to either the elementary or middle school and we will get the bag to its next location! If you are the last one to get the bag with a book or two in it...you get a bonus! Keep the bag for yourself!! Thank you for supporting the Family Engagement Team's goal with building relationships and strengthening our connection between the schools and you families to help increase student achievement. If you have questions, please feel free to contact anyone on our Family Engagement Team!
Don't forget to ONLY drop off to houses of families that you know and that are a part of the Brookwood Family. If you are uncomfortable dropping bags off, please have your child bring it back to the schools and we will do the next delivery.
Lastly, please don't forget to put a window cling up to signify you do not need another bag nor want a bag.

FROM THE CLASSROOM...
What's Happening in Mrs. Cassaday's First Grade Class?
We are reviewing all of our Fundations skills as we review all the rules we have learned with spelling and reading words. We reviewed what blends are and the sounds those blends make in a fun activity of writing the room. The students walked around the room looking for words and then writing them on a sheet. When they were done, they read them to the teacher to get a prize!
In writing, we worked on how to writings (teaching others how to do something). We learned how to make peanut butter, cotton candy, apple cider, and ice cream. The class taught me step by step how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We learned through this fun and silly activity how it is very important when teaching someone how to do something to tell them every little step. The best part was we made and gobbled up yummy PB&J sandwiches!
In math, we are reviewing our math skills that we have learned throughout the year! We have been working hard reviewing those math skills on Seesaw, IXL, math projects, and even fun partner games! Who says math can't be fun?!
In reading, we have a challenge this week! A BINGO Gear Up for Summer sheet. Everyday we are working on filling out more of our sheet during reading and WIN time. We are reading books on Epic and Arc Bookshelf, reading with partners, 5 Finger Retelling, reading to the teacher, as well as drawing characters and settings from our books. This has been a fun way for us to keep reading in class as we get closer to the end of the school year!

3rd Grade Market Days at BES!
Market Day is an awesome learning experience for our third graders. In social studies we have been studying Producers and Consumers, and Saving and Spending. Students have created their own businesses with a handmade product. They have worked on supply costs, marketing and production.
On Market Day, students set up their stands and sell their products. Every student and teacher will receive 10 Apple Bucks on their way in and they can purchase whatever products they want. Yes, this is real life products, but not real money. Students have art work, crafts, slime, etc. It's like a farmers market set up and students are allowed to walk through and check out all the products.

From the Athletic Director
Please double check your homes for any athletic uniforms that may be hiding out and return them to the BMS office. We appreciate all of your support and encouragement of our student-athletes!
Hope to see you at our end-of-year awards on Friday, June 2nd, from 9:30am-10:30am where we will recognize all of our athletes in 4th-7th grade. It will be a fun morning!
I look forward to all of your participation in our summer school athletics programming in June!
Stay active this summer! If you're looking to venture away from home, use this website to find fun activities in our area: ACTIVEkids. In the "location" box, type in Genoa City, WI (or your town) and a list of activities will pop up nearby.
Have a great summer, and Go Mustangs!

Boxtops
We need your help to get more families to support the Box Tops program. The more people that participate, the more our school can earn to help get the supplies it needs!
PLUS, you can earn a bonus for our school by inviting your friends, family, and other parents to sign up and participate in Box Tops.
To refer friends to sign up, go to the Invite Friends section of the Box Tops app. (You can get there by tapping on the person icon in the upper-right corner of the app home screen.) You'll get a referral code that you can send to a friend. You'll BOTH earn Bonus Box Tops for our school when they scan their first receipt — that's extra cash that counts towards our Box Tops earnings goal of $1,000 this year.
Thanks for your help!
