Happy New Year! I hope that you and your family had joyous yet relaxing winter break.

More Road Construction Coming:

The Gas Company has notified us that contractors will be performing excavation and/or construction work from 1/2/2024 to 4/2/2024. The location address is showing up as 607 S. Indian Hill Blvd. When looking on a Google map, it appears to be between San Jose Ave and Vista Drive which may affect your commute to and from school. Please plan accordingly.

Winter Sing and Holiday Bash with Sycamore:

Our Annual Winter Sing was lovely. The students were thrilled to share what they have been practicing during music class. In addition, several soloist and choir sang for our families. Thank you for making this an auspicious occasion.

A special thank you to PFA for coordinating the Holiday Bash at Sycamore. Students had the opportunity to make wonderful crafts with their families and friends. I have added photos of these events within this newsletter.

Thank you and I will see everyone back to school on Monday, January 8, 2024.

Vista struggled in the month of December as we didn't meet our expected outcome of 95% attendance for the month. We completely understand as it was cold weather, cough-cold season, and the flu that was hovering around. We would like to extend this challenge to January. If in the month of January, we reach 90% attendance, students will enjoy music at recess. Should we reach 95%, the students voted on a school wide pizza party. We can do this, Vikings!!!

Just a reminder that Excused Absences due to personal reasons are as listed below. Reasons other than those listed are considered unexecused absences. This is a mandate by the State of California.

1. Family funeral
2. Appearances in court
3. Holiday or ceremony of student’s religion or culture
4. Family emergency (verifiable)

When you leave a message on the attendance line, please clarify the reason. Thank you for bringing your child to school everyday.
