Mac El Weekly News
Week of February 2, 2024
From the Principal
I would like to recognize the hard work our students and teachers have put in this year. The i-Ready Diagnostic data showed so much growth! Students are trying to not only achieve typical growth, but stretch growth in their learning. Many of them have already achieved that goal, and it is only halfway through the year. Keep up the hard work and work on your math and reading i-Ready. When you look at your student's scores, celebrate the growth they made! If they did not show growth, have a conversation about why they think that is the case. Did they put in their best effort, and are they reaching their weekly goal of 45 min on reading and math each week and passing their lessons? If you have more questions, please talk to their teachers.
We still have a lot of learning ahead and we are very proud of our Mac El Braves!
Celebrate Black History Month
February is Black History Month, and we're super excited to celebrate the awesome contributions of African Americans. From musicians and scientists to activists and athletes, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible impact they've had on our world. School Counselor Week
Please join us in celebrating our school counselors, Mrs. Snyder and Mrs. Adams. We are extremely grateful for the support, care, and guidance they provide to our students and staff. They dedicate their time to meet with students individually, in small groups, and as a class, assisting them throughout the year with issues such as loss, anxiety, struggles with friends, counseling, and much more. Their contribution is invaluable, and we are fortunate to have them with us. Please take a moment to show your appreciation by sending them a note or an email.
STEM in our School
Mrs. Mouser's Class
Students were building structures that could withstand a tornado. They learned about Natural Disasters in Science and were reading I Survived the Joplin Tornado in Reading. They were connecting it all. They had a great time, and most of them quickly learned that the weight of their structure helped it stay in place with the strong "winds."

Mac El PTO Fundraiser
PTO Fundraiser Begins
The PTO Fundraiser kickoff was on Thursday, 02/01/24. Your child has been given forms to bring home. Please make sure to read the information and keep it safe. Keep track of any money collected. The packet contains information if you want your child to sell to people through email or text. You can find the instructions on the front of the package envelope that was sent home. Remember, order forms and money are due by February 15th.
Thank you for supporting the PTO. PTO supports our students, teachers, and families in many ways. With your help, we were able to purchase the Book Vending Machine and all the books, provide Family Fun Nights, games and equipment for students, and so much more!

BRAVES OF THE WEEK
2nd Grade: Ander Sands
Ander has been a real help in the classroom this week, helping to get a new student settled in and offering help getting the student started using his Chromebook. Academically, Ander has put forth great effort and has done a great job on his work this week.
3rd Grade: Oliver Beitz
Oliver is a really creative thinker and problem solver. He is always eager to take on a challenge and has grown so much this year! He has a knack for making people smile and laugh, which we all need sometimes! He's such a responsible and respectful student, and I know I can count on him. We are so lucky to have him in our class!
4th Grade: Krystal Inglis
Krystal is an exceptional student who embodies the qualities of hard work, respect, and compassion. She always tries her best and holds herself to high standards, even when nobody's watching. She has made so many improvements this school year and continues to grow. I can always count on her to have a joke to tell and to be a friend to all. Keep up the great work, Krystal!
5th Grade: Lenix Fuller
Lenix is an excellent student and a great role model for her classmates. I also hear she is a GREAT basketball player as well! She arrives each day ready to learn and with a smile on her face. She is showing excellent growth this year and I can't wait to see what she can do before she heads off to middle school next year. I have enjoyed having her in class this year and wish her continued success as a Maconaquah Brave!
