October 31 - November 4
Safety Measures Implemented
ESD has been working to implement several safety initiatives across the district that include an advanced weapons detection system. This system will not be in place until the middle of November. Until this system is in place, additional safety measures will be taken at El Dorado High School.
In the upcoming weeks a metal detector will be used and all backpacks and bags will be checked at the doors of EHS until the weapons detection system is in place. The only entrances allowed will be the front doors, the cafeteria doors, and the two main street entrances (arena parking and auditorium parking areas).
To help expedite building entry, students are encouraged to unzip bags and have small metal items ready to place in baskets at the check points (such as phones and keys).
Please be patient with the EHS administration as they work to get everyone in the building in a timely manner in the coming weeks. Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff. El Dorado School District must remain a safe haven for our children, and we must all–parents, staff, and community members–work together to provide that safe environment they deserve.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to call our Central Office at 870.864.5006. Thank you for your support and assistance in keeping our schools safe for children.

Safety Measures
Clear Bag Policy
In an effort to provide a safer environment and improve security, El Dorado School District has implemented a Clear Bag Policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums, gymnasiums, and other athletic fields.* Prohibited items include but are not limited to purses larger than a 4.5" x 6.5” clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, grocery bags, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags, or any bag larger than the permissible size.
Bags that are permitted included:
Tote bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”
One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags
Small clutch bags with or without a handle or strap, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” (approximately the size of a hand)
Bags not permitted:
Backpacks, printed plastic bags, fanny packs, purses, reusable grocery totes, mesh or straw bags, duffle bags, large totes, and camera or binocular cases.
Diaper bags are not allowed. Items normally carried in a diaper bag must be put into a clear plastic bag for venue entry.
Unaccompanied Children
Another way that ESD is making an effort to keep everyone safe at athletic events is to require that all children 6th-grade and younger be accompanied by an adult at all times. Gate supervisors will mark the hands of children who should be accompanied while at the event.
