Message from Mrs. Gilbert & Mr. Ramalho
A big thank you to everyone including students, families and our Multicultural Festival Committee for putting on an amazing event last Saturday. It was a pleasure to learn about so many of our cultures and see student performing in a variety of ways.
Next week is MCAS for grade 3 and 4 students. We wish them well, they have been preparing since they first started at South Row!
Enjoy the long weekend and the upcoming vacation week. We all need to take care of ourselves and one another and a little rest and relaxation always helps.
Respectfully,
Terri and Jayson

Crayon Recycling Drive
Families, a quick note that Crayon Recycling Drive is in full swing. We are collecting both standard crayons and crayon pencils (in plastic encasings). You can simply send your unwanted crayons to school with your children. Each class has a drop-off box. Crayons will be shipped to Crazy Crayons for recycling. The drive will finish just after Earth Day on April 24.
Earth Week
Families are invited to participate in Earth Week in a variety of ways including joining in the town wide clean up the week of April 10th. Please see the link below for more information on how to get involved.
https://www.townofchelmsford.us/886/Earth-Week-Town-Wide-Clean-Up
Ways to help our environment:
- Send their children to school carrying their own utensils, on the week of 4/10-4/14.
- Send home lunch with only reusable bags or containers, no single-use, on the week of 4/10-4/14.
- Line-dry their laundry, on the week of 4/10-4/14.
- Participate in the town-wide clean up, occurring on the week of 4/17-4/23.
- Make waste time capsules in their gardens, with trash in a sealed jar (landfill), and trash in a perforated bag (compost pile). The capsules could be opened, for checking, at the end of the school year, and/or on the next Earth Day.
Nurses Corner
Dear South Row Families,
Just a couple reminders this week!
This is a friendly reminder to please monitor your child for head lice. The following information is helpful to keep in mind about head lice:
Head lice can happen to anyone. It is not a sign of poor hygiene habits or of being dirty. Even though they do not jump or fly, lice can spread from one student to another by sharing combs, brushes, clothing, and hats.
Please do your part to prevent the spread of this communicable condition by checking your child(ren) on a regular basis. Lice infestation is much easier to treat if caught early. If you should discover a case of head lice, please notify the health office, as well as the parents of your child’s close contacts. This is the best way to protect your family and community. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact me via email or phone call.
If you have not submitted a physical exam for your 3rd grade student, please send it to me at your earliest convenience. You can email it to me at vandevoordts@chelmsford.k12.ma.us or you can send it to school with your student to drop off at the health office.
Warmly,
Nurse V.

Check your child's backpack for information about our favorite catalog fundraiser. Meadow Farms has a little something for everyone. With online ordering and direct shipping you can create an online seller account and share the links with family/friends ANYWHERE in the country. If you created an online seller account last year you'll need to create a new one again this time (but you can use the same email and password). Please remember our fundraisers help support enrichments and staff appreciation gifts among other great things for the school.
Sunshine Dance May 6th: We are excited to have DJ Mike Pride booked for the dance room. But we will also have a quiet/calm space for those who may need a break and we'll have face painting by Heidi Gorman of Creative Party Events!! Remember this is a FREE event to attend and participate in. We'll have tickets available for the raffle baskets and winners of those will be drawn that night and and present winners can take them home with them. NOTE: This is NOT a drop-off event, parents must stay with their child(ren). Hope you can plan to join us!
