Principal's Message
Dear Families and Caregivers,
Last Friday, during the October character trait assembly, we recognized students who stood out for their demonstration of kindness and empathy. Our students do wonderful things every day and it is important to recognize the many ways they contribute to our school community.
It was also great to see the many families that were invited to join as we celebrated their students at the month end character trait assembly. When your student is recognized for exemplifying one of our core character traits, we will invite you to join us at the Character Trait assembly. Community engagement is one of our school goals and we want to include you when we celebrate your child.
In November and December we will highlight and recognize the character trait: Generosity. Eccles is absolutely filled with generous students and families. As we gear up for the holiday season, I know we will work together to lift each member of the community.
From November 6-December 21 we are collecting coins for the Canby School District Coin and Toy Drive in conjunction with the Kiwanis Club. We appreciate our community partners, Kiwanis Club, for their support of our school and community.
Sincerely,
Kelly

We are encouraging each student to sell 10 boxes of cookie dough. The top selling grade will earn a pizza party!! Click this link or the flyer below to get started! All orders will be paid for online only with a credit or debit card. NO Cash or Check will be accepted.
Upcoming Holiday Drives
Check out the coin collection bins in the office where we are having a friendly competition between the Ducks and the Beavers. Bring your donated coins and put them in your favorite team’s bin, and drop off a new present in the toy bin. Thanks for supporting Kiwanis and our community!
Arrival
One of my favorite parts of the day is when your students walk through the door each morning. Students who are here at 7:45 have a strong start to their day. They can hang up their coat and backpack, greet their teacher and friends, settle into morning work, and be ready for school when it starts at 8:00.
We allow families to drop off their students each morning because we are partners in this work and you are part of our community. We enjoy seeing you! At 8:00 am, classroom dropoff has concluded. Students who arrive after 8:00 need to check in at the office and families need to say goodbye in the office if they enter the building with their student.
For the safety and security of our building, we only permit badged employees, and visitors and volunteers who have checked in at the office, to be in the school between 8:00-2:30. Thank you for understanding the need for us to maintain a safe and secure environment, as well as the need to begin the instructional day promptly at 8:00 am.
OBOB is Back!
Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) is returning to Eccles for grades 3-6, and was introduced to students in their Library classes this month. Here’s what you need to know:
Participation slips were offered to all students. Students should have filled them out and turned them in already.
Teams will be formed the first week of November and will start meeting regularly
We need parents to help coach teams! If your child is participating in OBOB this year, please consider volunteering to coach their team. Parent coaches help provide the best OBOB experience. Teams without parent coaches will be coached by Mrs. Adams in the library, and she'll do her best but won't be able to meet as frequently with each team she's coaching.
Reach out to Mrs. Adams via email: marlena.adams@canby.k12.or.us if you're ready to volunteer, want more information, or need a new OBOB participation slip for your child.
