This Week At SHOJ
April 1, 2021
From Mrs. Rhodes
When I was growing up, we always had Jello eggs at my grandma's for Easter Dinner. She worked really hard to save the shells, clean them out, and peel the eggs perfectly. It became such a part of my Easter tradition, that when my oldest was a baby, I eagerly snatched up the jello molds in 1995. I still make them every year! As we begin to celebrate the Triduum, we need to celebrate and cherish the traditions that our faith gives us. I love Holy Thursday services when the feet get washed as a sign of how we should serve; but I have recently added in the adoration that evening (our parish does it until midnight) so that I can actually wait with my Lord like Jesus asked the Apostles to do. Another tradition that continues to strengthen my celebration is being quiet form 12-3 on Good Friday to honor the time Jesus is on the cross. Yes it is a cross to not use technology, to have silence around me, or to feel a little bored, but it keeps me faith focused. I also start the Divine Mercy Novena, prayed daily until the Sunday after Easter. Really paying attention to the Easter Vigil and singing Alleluia at Easter Mass only enhances Easter for me. I would encourage you to keep your traditions and find ways to relook at those of our Catholic Faith. Be assured of my prayers for all of you as we begin our Easter Celebration (remember it lasts 40 days)!

No New cases nor quarantines this week!
Thanks for monitoring symptoms closely and doing all you do to keep our school healthy. Please remember with your spring break adventures, that the virus is still out there and very contagious. If you find that you have been exposed or start showing symptoms, the guidance is still in tact: isolate yourself if you have symptoms, quarantine if you have been exposed, and test if necessary. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need help walking through your details.
