Viking School Update (8/14/2023)

Good Afternoon, below you will find information regarding our daily arrival and dismissal procedures at Viking School. If you have any questions, please make sure to contact the Viking School Office at 847-336-2108. Thank you for all of your help and support this upcoming school year!

• Students riding the school bus will be dropped off in the Viking Bus Circle staring at 7:15am
• Students are dismissed by bus to enter the building by Viking Administration on a daily basis
• Students who are dropped off each morning or who are walking, should be dropped off at the Activity Entrance no earlier than 7:15am
• Students arriving after 7:30am will need to be dropped off at the Viking School front entrance (which is located off of Old Grand Ave and the stairs)

When students arrive at Viking School the following will occur (these procedures will be reviewed with students on the first day of school)

• 6th Grade Students will enter the building in doors by the BUS CIRCLE
• 7th and 8th Grade students will enter the building through the ACTIVITY ENTRANCE
• IF a student decides to get a FREE BREAKFAST, students will report to the Viking School MPR (Lunchroom) and pick up their breakfast before going to their locker. Students will be allowed to eat their breakfast during the first period class (Power-Up)
• All students will go to their locker and sit in front of it until they are dismissed by our Viking staff. At that time, students will place belongings in their locker for the school day
• While waiting to be dismissed, students MAY NOT be on their cellphones (they should be put away), but can use their district issued iPad to complete assignments/study

Viking School dismisses at 2:25 on a daily basis. The following procedures are in place for students:

Students riding the bus:

• 6th Grade Students will exit the building near the BUS CIRCLE
• 7th and 8th Grade Students will exit the building at the ACTIVITY ENTRANCE
• IF students exit the building to the buses, they will be expected to ride the bus home
• Students are expected to go to their lockers at dismissal and go directly to their bus
• It is important that students board their bus in a timely manner so our school buses can complete their routes and support our entire school district

Students participating in after school activities:

• After going to their locker, students are expected to report immediately to their after school activity (ex: sports, drama, club)

Students walking home or being picked up:

• After going to their locker, ALL students who are walking home or getting picked up, will leave Viking School through the main entrance (front of the building on Old Grand Ave.)
• If students exit the front of the building as a walker or pick-up, they will not be able to board a bus at the end of the school day
• For families picking up students at the end of the school day, please make sure that you pull up your car as far as possible in our front drive to help avoid traffic on Old Grand Ave.
