In order for the Hannum Library to hopefully be finished close to when school begins in August, the contractors need a little time this year to begin. Beginning May 1st Mrs Keblusek and Mrs Lazinek will take their "show on the road" and go into classrooms for their library classes. Books will not be able to be checked out at this point.

Please make sure that if your child has a book at home that they return it by the last week of April. These ladies have been trying to pack up the Library which is not an easy job, so the more things we can have back to them on time, the easier it will be.

Parents make sure you are monitoring your children and their use of electronic devices. So many of our older students have phones and are texting frequently. We have had a few issues this year with some bullying through electronic devices. Please know that according to state law, even if the texting or social media is done at home or weekends, if a parent brings it to our attention, I have to handle it as though it occurred in school. Please monitor their usage and sites they are on.

Chromebooks are only supposed to be used for school related work. I have pulled up histories and found that students are playing games on them very late at night and are searching inappropriate things. We have a firewall at school but it doesn't extend to your home, so we need your help.

Our mandated state testing started today and goes until April 21st. If you have a student in grades 3-5, it is even more important for your children to be in school and on time. Make sure your children eat a healthy breakfast so that they are ready to go to do their very best. Make up times are limited, so it is imperative that students come to school ready to go! Thank you for your help with this and your encouragement that your children try their best. We are so excited that the weather for this week will be so nice that they will be able to be outside for recess every day this week!!

Enrollment is continuing for the D123 Summer Programs! Summer Programs are mostly at Kolmar School this year, with Special Education programming at Hometown School. Please sign up as soon as you can as some classes get filled up very quickly! Summer Programs begin June 12-June 29 and July 10- July 13. No class on Fridays. D123 Summer Programs are open to ANY student. Public, Private or Parochial...grades Pre K-8. Please click on the link for more information about this year's summer school.

Now that everyone will be coming back to school, our traffic issues will return as well. Please see the attached map for where to drop off and where you can park if you want to get out and walk your child to their line.

Here are some reminders for helping us get kids in and out of school safely:

• PLEASE pull up as far as you can go when you are letting students out of the car.
• PLEASE do not park across the street and have kids run across to get either to the school or back to your car.
• PLEASE be patient as kids are getting out of the car.
• PLEASE do not block the entrance and exit of the school parking lots and
• PLEASE do not park in the driveway of St. Germaine School. (You may pull into the spots in their parking lot, but do not park in the driveway....except for next week...see above)

Our school will be serving nutritious breakfast and lunch every school day. If you qualify, you can receive free or reduced lunches. Please call the office if you need information about how to qualify. The cost of breakfast is $1.50 and the cost of lunch is $3.05.

BREAKFAST will be served in the main hall of our school beginning at 8:10-8:25am. Students will enjoy their breakfast in our multi-purpose room and then will go to their line to start the day.

LUNCH will be ordered with your child's classroom teacher every morning. Students will be able to choose from 2 choices. Students can also bring a home lunch and only order a milk. Milk only is 60 cents and students can choose white or chocolate. You can add money to your child's meal account through Skyward. https://www.d123.org/departments/operations/lunch-menus

DOUBLE LUNCH Many of our older students like to order a double lunch. I ask if they have permission and they say they do... then parents are surprised that the lunch balance goes down so quickly. I have told our 4th and 5th grade students that they need to have permission to do this, so please speak to your children about this.

Grade 5 eats from 11:00-11:25

Grades 3 and 4 eat from 11:25-11:50

Kindergarten eats from 11:55-12:20

Grades 1 and 2 eat from 12:20-12:45
