Principal's Message
Hello Sunset Lake Families,
Sunset Lake has been a busy place with all of our end-of-year lessons being wrapped up and school celebrations. Our 5th-grade students were able to visit Vicksburg Middle School for a tour and many of our PTSO Walk-A-Thon prizes are being scheduled for our students.
Next week our upper-el field day activities are scheduled for 3rd grade on Thursday, 6/3 from 12:30-3:00 pm. Our 4th grade will have their field day on Friday 6/4 from 9-11:30 and we will wrap it up with our 5th grade on Friday afternoon from 12:30-3:00 pm. We are working out the final details of designated locations for Sunset Lake Families to observe their child's events. Since we cannot monitor families who have been vaccinated, we need families to adhere to the designated family locations and refrain from going up to students during the events. We thank you in advance for your support and for following our safety guidelines!
We are looking forward to celebrating our 5th Grade Leaders at their Sunset Lake 5th Grade Graduation Monday morning June 7th. We are still working on seating details at the PAC based on current CDC guidelines.
Please be sure to take a look at the Big Read Machine schedule we have listed in this SMORE edition. Having your child read throughout the summer is one of the best things you can do to help avoid the "summer-slide" our students may experience during the extended break in the summer. Our last edition of the Sunset SMORE on June 11th will be all about Summer Learning and Family Habit Fun to keep our Sunset Lake leaders growing!
Please help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 by constant monitoring of your child's symptoms each morning and reviewing the Student Screener shown below. We ask that you keep your child home if you suspect a possible exposure and if anyone in your household is waiting for test results.
PLEASE be sure to ALWAYS contact our office if your child is going to be absent from school so we can track reasons for absences and any possible cases.
Please visit this link at the State of Michigan Covid for up-to-date information.
Together we can work to minimize exposure for our students and staff. Thank you!
Thank you Sunset Lake Families!
Yours in Learning,
Amie McCaw

Virtual Learning Updates
CONGRATULATIONS KVIC students for completing your year. We wish you a safe and restful summer. We hope to see you back in the fall for what we hope to be a more "normal" school year. *Please note that your family should have received the VCS Family Survey for the fall Return to School plan. Please contact our office if you did not receive the survey. Thank you!
VCS Virtual: Last day of school is June 10th. We hope your families are able to participate in the special drive-through event our Virtual Teachers organized for next Friday at Sunset Lake's front bus ramp area. It does seem we still have a few items for pick-up so please check with your child's teacher if you are unsure if your child has materials to pick up. .
Sunset Student Screener--Check every morning before bringing your child to school. Thank You!
