Gooding Lion's Club Presents Donation
Gooding Lions Club President Terrie Bybee had the honor of presenting a donation, on behalf of the Gooding Lions Club, to the 2023 Raptor Senior Class for this year’s project. They are replacing an older projector which has become difficult to view. This project will impact so many lives for years to come. Thank you to the Idaho Education School for the Deaf and Blind for letting us participate. And.. this year’s goal is $2,400.00! Please contact the school if you are able to help them too!
Another year of eye testing begins. The Gooding Lions Club supports not only children in Gooding but several surrounding communities by conducting annual eye screening services for them due to a lack of a local Lion’s charter. A huge thanks to Lion Pat Bishop and Lion Jerry Freeman for their unwavering commitment to this program over the years.

Do You Have A Sprinkler System?
If you have a sprinkler system you are required to have a backflow device. Backflow devices need to be tested annually to prevent contamination in our drinking water. If you have questions please call City Hall.
Message from Police Chief Dave Fisher
Before we know it, Spring will be here. Now is a good time to get started on cleaning out the winter mess and trimming vegetation before the growing season and the added work of regular yard and lawn maintenance. These pictures display some of the common problems found within our city, and are actually of locations in our town.
Vegetation, brush, and trees are required to be trimmed to provide a vertical clearance of 7 feet over any sidewalks, 12 feet over any alley or roadway, and 14 ½ feet above any truck route (that would include Main Street, as well as 3rd and 4th Ave East). At corners, vegetation or any other items should not reach above 4 feet or otherwise present an obstruction to visibility around the corners.
Keep in mind that property owners are responsible to keep their property and adjoining public property to the center of the road or alleys, free and clear of weeds and debris. While the City has and continues to take part in some of this maintenance, we do not wish to apply substances that may kill your desirable plants while doing so.
Personal property and other materials or belongings are not to be stored on public property. Sidewalks, alleys, and the roads / rights of way are not a location to store trailers, RV’s, Boats, unregistered or junk vehicles, materials, firewood, appliances, old furniture, or other such items. Sidewalks should not be blocked by these items, including the tongues of trailers, or by vegetation, making them difficult or impossible to use.
Sidewalks are a big concern for our city but, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to install, maintain, repair, or replace them as needed. This has not always been the case and is a reason that not all properties have sidewalks. This requirement, however, does not make the sidewalk their own personal property. Every street is a publicly owned right of way which extends to and includes the area from sidewalk to sidewalk. In the absence of sidewalk, other features that indicate public property are certain utilities such as power and light poles, phone boxes, irrigation boxes and ditches, which are primarily located within the right of way.
Message from Mayor Diane Houser
Hello Gooding,
We have been fortunate to have had a winter without too much snow. But we are also fortunate that the snow has been falling in the mountains. Hopefully this snow that they have been receiving in the mountains is enough to alleviate some of the water shortages that we are experiencing. I would like to thank the city crew for keeping the snow off the roads and sanding when needed. They have done a great job!
Also, the city crew won the Christmas Parade of Lights show that was held by the Chamber of Commerce in December. Great job guys and gals! The parade was held on the same evening as the lighting of the Christmas tree. There was a great turnout from our community to see the parade and the kids got to visit with Santa Clause. The High School Chorus was also present singing. I hope to see this years parade with a lot more entries. The Chamber of Commerce has done a great job each year putting on this event for our community.
I am looking forward to spring. I have had enough of winter. This spring the City will begin work on the new outdoor gym that will be built in the West Park. This will be a great opportunity for people to go and workout outside. It will be great for parents with kids as they can work out and their kids can play. I am happy that we were able to get this done. Thank you to all of our sponsors and their generous donations. I would also like to thank our Public Works Director for all the time he put in on getting a grant for this. Thank you Larry!
Our Public Works Director has been working closely with Congressman Simpson's office and it looks like we will be getting our new river wall in the near future. This has been a project that has been worked on for the last twenty years by our previous Public Works Director, Todd Bunn, and our current Public Works Director, Larry Bybee. It will be nice to have it completed. We are also considering a walking/bike path along the new wall. Hopefully this will run from the East Park to the West Park. The City Council would like to put together a community work group to work on this in the near future. If you would be interested in helping contact City Hall.
This spring we will be working on the layout for the Bike Park. This will be located by the Skate Park. This should approximately take two years to complete. This will be a great opportunity for our kids to ride bikes on rather than on the streets.
The Gooding Public Library is working on a grant to expand the Library. Our Library does a wonderful job for our community. I hope the citizens of Gooding will support this endeavor. As I work in City Hall each day I am amazed at all of the kids and parents that come to the Library. Thank you Cindy Bigler and your crew for doing an amazing job.
