Summer Update from Woodland D50
Superintendent Meet and Greets, Gurnee Days, and more!
Superintendent Meet and Greet Events
Dear Woodland Families,
I hope you had a nice 4th of July holiday and are busy enjoying your Summer Break! We just completed a fantastic summer school program on Friday, work is underway to renovate classrooms, parking lots, and - in the case of Elementary School - school office spaces in preparation of the start of the 2023-24 school year. I wanted to drop in today with a few mid-summer updates and let you know about some upcoming events.
Last summer, I hosted a series of “Meet and Greets” to learn more about your priorities for your child's education and to introduce myself to the community as our new Superintendent. These community interactions were so valuable to me, and I want to get out into the community again to talk to our families about the school year that just ended, preview our new five-year strategic plan, and really just take another opportunity to hear what’s on your mind as the calendar turns slowly but surely to August.
Hoping that you will plan to join me on the following dates at these locations throughout the District:
- Tuesday, July 18, 2 - 3 p.m.
Grandwood Park Park District
36630 N. Hutchins Road,
Gurnee, IL 60031 - Wednesday, July 19, 4 - 5 p.m.
Warren Newport Library
224 OPlaine Rd,
Gurnee, IL 60031 - Thursday, July 20, 5 - 6 p.m.
Park City Teen Center
333 Teske Blvd.
Park City, IL 60085
There is no set agenda for these meetings, and you are welcome to drop in at your convenience. We can talk about our newly adopted 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, new initiatives to address behavior and discipline concerns across the district, and whatever else is on your mind. We may even have a few special guests from the Board of Education or some of our new administrators join us.
I know that summer is a busy time for our families; still, I’d really like to see you at one of these events. If you would like to connect with me, but you are unable to attend one of these events, please send me an email at RMachak@dist50.net.
Thank you!
Dr. Robert Machak, Superintendent

Do you love Rock ‘n Roll from the 70’s? Help us decorate our float with your favorite 70’s music album. We will provide all the materials needed. You can design the album replica yourself or we can stencil it out for you. Return your record album for a spot in our Rock ‘n Roll float.
