ASVAB Testing - Monday, January 31, 2022
**What is ASVB Testing?
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a heavily researched and well-respected aptitude test developed by the Department of Defense. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) is designed to help students in 10th/11th/12th grades find their path to career satisfaction. The ASVAB CEP includes a validated aptitude test and interest assessment. The results are used to guide career exploration.
Do you need to share the results of your ASVAB test with the military? No. There is a box on the text that will ask you that question. If you do not want your scores shared with the military, do not check the box. The student results will then only be sent to the student.
What if my child doesn't know what they want to do yet for their future? GREAT! This test will help you understand what your strengths are! The ASVAB test only scores you on questions that you answer. Questions that are not answered do not count toward anything. It truly is just a great way to help your son/daughter to find their strengths and work from there to guide into career exploration.
Where will my son/daughter take the test? John Champe will be hosting ASVAB Testing on Monday, January 31, 2022. This is a teacher work day. Students are off, so no academic classes will be interrupted. It will be held in the Career Center. Students report at 9am.
What grade levels are open to test? Grades 10-12 are open to take the ASVAB test.

Side-Out Foundation - Ambassador Program
Hello John Champe High School Community,
My name is Gabby and I lead the Ambassador Program for the Side-Out Foundation. The Ambassador Program is an opportunity for your students to earn volunteer hours, national scholarships, and leadership experience while impacting metastatic breast cancer research.
Side-Out is an accredited nonprofit, started by a high school volleyball coach in Fairfax County. You can read our story here. Since 2006 we have hosted over 10,000 fundraising events nationally and studied over 500,000 breast cancer cells to develop individualized treatments and improve care for those in the latest stages of breast cancer (We have hosted over 661 events in Virginia alone). We focus on educating and empowering the youngest generations to understand metastatic breast cancer and support change for those affected.
I’m hoping you can help me make sure your students know about Side-Out and our Ambassador Program. You can find all the details here. Whether your students are looking for leadership experience, nonprofit experience, exposure to medical career fields or just want to find a meaningful volunteer opportunity - we’d love to meet them and encourage them to register during the month of December.
Thank you so much for your time in reading this,
Ambassador Program Manager
