SWMS Fire Fighter Challenge
Searcy Fire Department presented Southwest Middle School students with an award after a top notch performance at Beats and Eats earlier this month. SWMS students participated in a fire fighter challenge and brought back the coveted trophy belt. Awesome job students and thank you Searcy FD!
Peace, Love, & School Lunch!
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) serves nearly 30 million children every school day. President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week (NSLW) in 1962 to promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child’s life and the impact it has inside and outside of the classroom. The 2022 theme was “NSLW 2022: Peace, Love & School Lunch.” McRae Elementary School celebrated NSLW with "Hippy Day."
Westside First Grade Teachers Receive Superintendent's Award of Excellence
Westside Elementary first grade teachers and facilitators received the Superintendent's Award of Excellence from Dr. Bobby Hart for being willing to work toward implementing flexible grouping and taking measures to ensure all students' are targeted at their individual skill levels.
Sidney Deener Celebrates with Fall Fun
Sidney Deener celebrated all things "fall" with a Fall Fest for Families and an Onsite Pumpkin Patch. We love creating fun in our own backyards!
Franks Kisses Pig for PTO
McRae Elementary raised $618.67 for the McRae PTO through its Pack the Pig Campaign during the week of Red Ribbon Week. Students raised money all week and to celebrate a successful campaign, Bronco King from Searcy High School brought the FFA pig for Mrs. Franks to kiss.
Choral Students Named to All-Region
Searcy High School
On Saturday, October 15th, 53 members of the Searcy High School Choirs traveled to Jonesboro High School to audition for the Region 1 All-Region Choirs. Each student had to individually audition for a panel of five judges to be chosen for the choir. Two students from SHS Choirs, Sophia Nabours on soprano 1 and Ellie Howell on alto 2, received 1st chair in their voice part. All students who were named to the Region 1 Mixed Chorus now qualify to audition for the Arkansas All-State Choirs in February of 2023. These students will all perform in a concert at Arkansas State University-Jonesboro on Saturday, November 5th. The Searcy High School Choirs are under the direction of Amy Thomas and Harding University Student Intern Camille Overman.
Ahlf Junior High School

G/T Program
On Oct 25th, Ahlf Junior High School students John Hollingsworth, Zayne Johnson and Zane Blake attended the 7th-8th grade GT Global Dominion at WDMEC. Students from across the coop came together and played a variation of Risk, which teaches players about what is included in world politics and globalization. They learned how to cooperate as a team to make decisions about colonization, imperialism, militarism, and global negotiations.
SWMS Robotics Club
SWMS students Boston Franks, Noah Miller, Jess Douglas, and Kash Coleman will compete in the Lego Cup Club Challenge on Saturday, November 5 at Harris Gym on the Harding Academy campus. The competition will run from 8:30 A.M.-2:30 P.M. The public is invited to attend this event to support our middle school robotics students. The robotics club at SWMS is under the direction of Shelley Yeakley and Joe Holland.

Searcy Migrant Program
SHS students in the Migrant Education Program were able to participate in the Migrant Student Advisory Council and visit ASU Beebe. We are so thankful for this opportunity to learn about the college process, various degree and career options, scholarships, and college life.
SHS Trip to Arkansas State Capitol
SHS students in Ms. English's, Ms. Barker's , and Ms. Wright's classes visited the State Treasurer's Office at the Arkansas State Capitol. What a fun and educational field trip for some fantastic students who are shown with Treasurer Dennis Milligan.

SHS Competitive Cheer
SHS Varsity cheerleaders competed at the Southern Spirit Federation competition in Morrilton October 29th. They placed 1st in their division, received judge's choice in Crowd Leading and Fight Song, and were named Grand Champions. Congratulations to the SHS Varsity cheerleaders on this fantastic accomplishment!
Cross Country Wins 5A East Conference
Congratulations to the SHS Cross Country Team for both SHS Senior High and Junior High Boys winning the 5A East Conference Meet. And, a BIG congratulations to Coach Katie Cooper for being named 5A Coach of the Year for 2022!
