A note from Ms. Walsh
Happy Friday Mountain View! I hope everyone had a great week, and that everyone is looking forward to their three-day weekend! Due to our Friday snow day, we moved our Advisory lesson to Monday this week. The 6-8th graders created vision boards for 2022 based on the New Year’s resolutions they established in Advisory before winter break. In class discussions, the students talked about making our resolutions and goals for the year S.M.A.R.T. goals. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is a goal that is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic/relevant and time-bound. Thinking about how our goals are S.M.A.R.T. goals helps us to plan how we are going to achieve them. Our next Advisory lesson will involve establishing one S.M.A.R.T. goal for the third marking period and planning out the steps we can take to achieve them.
The 5th graders' Advisory was the second lesson of the NJ Bar Foundation’s Bullying Prevention Guide. The focus of this lesson was to learn the difference between bullying and normal conflict, as well as to teach the 5th graders about the different types of bullying: Cyberbullying, physical bullying, relational bullying, and biased-based bullying. Students played a true/false game to learn the facts about different types of bullying and the benefits of learning more about bullying. The 5th grade will have Lesson #3: Recognizing the Roles People Play, in the next Advisory.
HSA Winter Enrichments
Dear Parents,
The HSA is pleased to announce another session of Enrichments! These after school classes offer students an opportunity to explore a new subject, learn a new skill, or spend some extra time interacting with their peers. It's a super convenient after school activity because there is no schlepping around town - your student moves right from the school day to their chosen activity. The bulk of the offerings are at Hilltop but there are a couple of great options at Mountain View, too.
There is a cost for each Enrichment activity. The class offerings, schedule and prices are contained in the Winter Enrichment Brochure. The enrollment period for enrichments is January 18 to January 30. Links for enrollments will be sent out on Tuesday and will be live at 10:00 a.m. on Jan. 18.
All in-school COVID-19 procedures and policies will be in place for Enrichment activities, i.e. masks, social distance.
Please note that we are still living in a pandemic-world. Enrichments may be interrupted or cancelled if there is a determination by the Board of Health or the Mendham Borough School District that after-school activities should be halted or schools are closed. In either of these cases, a prorated refund will be offered.
Stay Warm & Healthy!
