February 2022 Newsletter
Dear CCES Families,
Happy February!
We are so excited to see staff and students approaching the 100th day of school at the beginning of this month. The teaching and learning that has taken place in these first 100 days has been amazing. Have you had the chance to take a minute and reflect on all the growth your child or children have been making since August? We just love to see how the staff and students keep moving forward despite the challenges of this school year. We truly have a community that is resilient and determined to keep growing.
February also often brings Valentine celebrations both at home and school. A fun way to celebrate with your family is to leave 14 days of "love notes" for your loved ones each day leading up to Valentine's day. A few words on a sticky note each day saying why you love them can be a simple tradition that will create memories for a lifetime.
We know February can also be cold and full of lots of snow but we certainly hope that you will be inspired to enjoy this beautiful Maine season. Please see the information further on in the newsletter about the Winter Kids Winter Games and how your family can participate from home. Additionally, February vacation is right around the corner in three short weeks. Vacation week could be a great time to plan some family fun outside or launch into the Winter Games. May the fun in the snow begin!
Finally, we hope February brings lots of love and kindness to your family and as always, remember we are here if you need us.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Carr and Ms. Wyman

Winter Kids Winter Games 2022
Teachers and families will utilize a "PLAYBOOK" as they see fit each week to earn weekly incentives. Remember to visit www.WinterKids.org for additional resources. All Play-along participants will be entered to win Winter Kids prizes each week!
100th Day of School
The 100th day of school is a great milestone to mark 100 days of learning and provide an opportunity for some classroom fun. Be on the lookout for information and activities that may be taking place in your child's classroom.
School Health and Covid 19 Information
Changes to Covid Protocol
1. Positive Cases will only need to quarantine for a maximum of five days, as long as symptoms have been relieved, including being fever free without medication for 24hrs, and the positive person must continue to wear a mask for an additional five days. Masking is still mandatory at school and if students or staff do not feel well, they should not come to work or school.
2. Close Contacts do not need to quarantine if:
- They are boosted, if eligible.
- Fully vaccinated but not eligible for a booster.
- They have completed their mRNA vaccinations within the past six months.
- They participate in pooled testing.
- They attend or work in a school with a mandatory masking policy.
Pooled Testing.
Pooled testing allows us to test a greater number of participants with just one test. Should the pool come back positive for Covid 19, each individual that is part of that pool is tested again to identify the positive case.
If you are interested in learning more about pooled testing or would like to sign your child up to participate in pooled testing, please contact the main office here at school.
Health Updates.
Signs and symptoms of COVID -19 include:
• fever or chills
• cough
• shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
• fatigue
• muscle or body aches
• headache
• new loss of taste or smell
• sore throat
• congestion or runny nose
• nausea or vomiting
• diarrhea
If your children experience any of the symptoms above, please keep them home and contact your medical provider immediately.
* Please Note
Due to the RSU 64's mandatory masking policy, only positive individuals should need to quarantine based on these revisions.
RSU 64's participation in pooled testing will continue to be one of the best tools in identifying the COVID-19 virus and keeping it out of our schools.
