Week 2 of School= FIRST SHOW PERFORMANCE This WEEK!

Great work this week cleaning and learning, this week brought a lot of progress and it's exciting to see the show really start taking form.

We will adjust our morning A day on Monday only to start at 7 AM. This will adjust our end times on Monday only 5:30 PM instead of 6 PM. As a reminder, when we are making these minor adjustments to the schedule, it will not be adjusted on the Calendar on our website. Thursday's forecast looks like it may be more cooperative. This week will be our first booster meeting on Monday evening and our first parent performance of the show; we hope to meet a lot of parents we haven't had the opportunity to at these two events!

Rehearsals

Please make sure that you have all rehearsals on your schedule and are present. Marching band is the ultimate team sport and we must have everyone on the field learning new drill and cleaning together. We are off to a great start, but need that momentum to continue strong going forward. Any absence should be communicated by the student to a director prior to the absence in person. If absolutely necessary an e-mail should be sent in advance for any absence. Keep in mind per your handbook what an excused absence may be; plan ahead to make sure you are taking care of attendance requirements.

PARKING/ DROP-OFF (same as last week for A days and after rehearsal)

Keep in mind that our A1 CLASS will meet at 7 AM on the Turf Field. The bandhall side door will be open from 6:30- 6:45 AM. Make sure you park and your student can enter the side door in this time frame. If after 6:45 students will need to be dropped off at the back of the school. The side bandhall door will CLOSE AT 6:45 AM! Please make sure that you are earlier rather than later so we are able to start right on time. Students can come dressed for marching band with a change of clothes if they are in the A1 class. Students will be dismissed from the field by 8:45 AM to change and get ready for the remainder of the day.

Please continue to park in a parking place when picking up students from all practices/ events.

All State Music

Students should be practicing All- State Music at home. We have already started with pass-offs and will continue to do so on B days. Students should have concert instruments on every B day along with their marching instrument as well.

ALL- State Expectations per LEVEL

First Grading Period:

Varsity: 1 etude beginning to end performed for the class for feedback. Keep in mind that this doesn't need to be full tempo, only the tempo you can perform consistently beginning to end for the first etude selected. Also keep in mind that the earlier you get feedback, the sooner you are working to refine this music for the audition process coming up!

Non Varsity: 1 etude 2/3 of one etude performed for the class for feedback. Keep in mind above mentioned regarding tempo and feedback; student may perform varsity level requirements if prepared.

Sub Non Varsity: 1 etude 1/2 of one etude performed for the class for feedback. Keep in mind above mentioned regarding tempo and feedback; student may perform non-varsity or varsity level requirements if prepared.

Sub Non Varsity A: 1 etude Freshmen cuts of one etude performed for the class for feedback.

Keep in mind above mentioned regarding tempo and feedback; student may perform Sub-non-varsity, non-varsity or varsity level requirements if prepared.

WEEK 2 of School (THIS week) *READ ALL for necessary adjustments (same as last week)

Monday, AUG 15

7AM A1 Band starts on turf (guard/ front ensemble will extend rehearsal after school 2:50- 3:20)

3:30- 5:30 PM Marching Rehearsal

7 PM FIRST BOOSTER MEETING (Bandhall)

Tuesday, AUG 16 (this rehearsal may start 30 minutes later dependent on weather; this will be posted via the Band APP/ possibly updated in next week's smore)

6:15 PM- 9:15 PM STADIUM REHEARSAL @ Williams Stadium

Students will need to have transportation to and from Williams stadium, please make sure to make these arrangements ahead of time. If you need help finding a ride, please utilize the Parent Band App. Students should wear their summer uniform and marching shoes and socks at this rehearsal. This helps get used to what those shoes feel like on the turf.

Wednesday, AUG 17

7:30 AM A1 Band starts on turf

THERE IS NO AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSAL

Thursday, AUG 18

3:30 PM- 6:00 PM Marching Rehearsal

Friday, AUG 19

B DAY

3:30 PM- 6:30 PM Marching Rehearsal

Change/ Eat Break

7:30 PM Parent Performance at Mustang Stadium (summer uniform needed)

Saturday, AUG 20

7:30 AM- 3 PM DRILL DAY/ Masterclasses

Make sure you have both concert and marching instruments on this day!

Same set up as last week; this rehearsal will help us ensure we are ready for our first footbvall game coming up the following week!

STADIUM Rehearsal (repeat)

TUBAS/ Percussion

Monday following rehearsal, tuba racks need to come in to the landing outside the bandhall. At the end of your B Day band class, tubas need to go in cases and on these racks.

Make sure to load your equipment immediately at the end of the school day before leaving for the day. You will meet at Williams stadium 30 minutes prior to rehearsal to get your equipment off of trucks or trailers that have been transported for you. TUBAS if you have your own transportation for your equipment, please make sure that Mr. Tucker is aware of these accommodations so there is no delay in loading equipment.

TUBAS: Make sure that at the end of your B day class that your instrument goes into the case and is in the Loading Carts so you don't have to come in after school.

Looking Ahead: WEEK 3 School

AUG 22-26

Schedule will be similar to previous week anticipating that weather will be pretty consistent as it has been. Next week 7AM rehearsals will likely be on Monday and Friday (not Wednesday). Please make sure you are adequately hydrating and prepared for an adjusted schedule very similar to this week's accommodations regarding weather,. Keep in mind that our football game performance will be Thursday, August 25, 2022 per our CALENDAR. We will still have rehearsal on the Friday after, and our FINAL Saturday Drill day will be 8/27/22!

FALL BREAK

The band calendar has also been adjusted to give the students a break during a portion of this week. Please refer to the band calendar and make sure that you are clear for all band activities as fall break is at our busiest "In Season" of the year!

BAND FEES

At this time, all fees should be made through CHARMS. SKYWARD fees will need to be paid beginning in August. Please make sure that you have paid your first $300 toward your CHARMS account by the end of this month! If for some reason, you are behind with this balance, please get caught up by the end of July. If you are unable to do so, please contact Mrs. Taylor and the treasurer to set up a payment plan.
