Scripture For Grief, Recovery, & Joy for March 14

Today’s Scripture
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
John 12:24 ESV
Today's Guide
When preparing for today, think about the following: Surrender, Dying to Ourselves, Reaps More Than We Could Imagine.
Food For Thought
The Bible is full of many stories and lessons that can help us to live better lives. Today’s scripture makes a simple yet powerful statement that reminds us that when we surrender our will to God's will, we reap great rewards.
We are reminded today that we can't do it all on our own - we need God's help. We don't possess the power to make things happen without Him, but when we trust in His word and stay close to Him, then nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37)! When we turn away from our own selfish desires and focus on what He has called us to do, then He will direct our steps (Proverbs 3:5-6). It's easy to get caught up in life's busyness and forget about God's purpose for our lives, but if we keep Him at the center of everything we do, then He will be faithful to finish the work He has started in us (Philippians 1:6).
When we choose to die to ourselves and surrender our lives to God, a remarkable transformation takes place. We become more selfless and focused on serving others. Our outlook changes as well; no longer do we worry about what may come tomorrow but rather seek Him for his guidance today (Matthew 6:34). This life-altering journey of faith is something that can't be achieved without God's help and strength. All too often we focus on our own abilities or rely on our own understanding instead of looking to Jesus for direction (Proverbs 3:5-6). When we trust in His plan, follow His commands, and seek Him first, then we can rest assured that He will provide all that we need (Matthew 6:33).
Gratitude
Reflecting on all the good in our lives helps us to be more present and mindful of what truly matters. It also encourages us to take care of ourselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Practicing gratitude can remind us that even in difficult times, there are still things to be thankful for. This is especially true when we look at today's scripture; it is a reminder that when we surrender our will and let it die, something new and beautiful can take its place.
There is always something to be thankful for, even if it's just having another chance at life. What are you grateful for today?
Today's Prayer
Lord, You have shown me that when I submit my will to Yours, You refer to it as dying to ourselves. But, when we do, we have a new life, way of living, and perspective. We see through Your lens, not ours. I am grateful. Amen
