Common Threads Food Truck
Mount Baker will not be able to supply summer meals this year. However, Mount Baker has partnered with the Common Threads Food truck! Common Thread's new food truck will be serving FREE, fresh, delicious meals to kids and teens ages 18 and under starting this July! The food truck will stop at multiple locations throughout the Mount Baker School District providing meals and fun, educational activities. Please share your feedback with these surveys attached below.
Spring Garden Classes
Spring garden classes are underway and your students have learned about compost, square foot gardening techniques, about isopods and insects, 5 things a plant needs to survive. Kids tried spring garden nibbles, enjoyed gardening together, and learned safe garden tool skills.
Let's Eat: Kids and Families Cooking Class is happening at the EWRRC on May. 18. Each family will get ingredients, recipe, and a cooking lesson. Come cook at meal together! Space is limited and if you are interested please contact: katie.chugg@commonthreadsfarm.org.
Come volunteer with us for garden hours every other Monday (May 1, 15, June 5) from 3:30-5:00 p.m. no prior garden experience necessary. Learn garden basics, plant identification, how to prune vines and trees, troubleshoot garden diseases and pests. To volunteer contact: katie.chugg@commonthreadsfarm.org Already love gardening and want to get paid during the summer? Check out our AmeriCorps positions for flexible, paid opportunities to support your school garden and/or feed kids in our community through this summer and beyond! https://commonthreadsfarm.org/get-involved/

A Note From Nurse Renee
I wanted to send out a reminder to keep your kids home from school if they have had a fever (100.4+) or vomited in the last 24 hours. They can return to school 24 hours after their fever subsides with NO medications or 24 hours after their last vomiting episode. If they still do not feel well after 24 hours, please keep them home as they will be more comfortable there and not at school.
Also, we are not able to accept medications brought from home without a doctor's note/signature. Please do not send medication in their backpacks for school use as students are not able to use them at school without the required paperwork. This includes Inhalers, Ibuprofen/Tylenol, Tums, cough drop etc. Medications need to be brought in through the health office with an order for them to use here. You are always welcome to come to the school to administer medications to your child without a MD order but the school will not be able to give them to your child. Here is the link for medical forms if you need to get a doctor's order for school medications.

Celebrations @ School
We would prefer all birthday celebrations take place outside of the school day. There are many ways to celebrate birthdays at school: sharing a favorite book/story, playing a favorite game or bringing in a healthy snack. If you choose to bring in a snack please be mindful that some students have food allergies and other restrictions. Snacks must be store-bought. Celebrations will take place after 2:30 pm in an effort to maintain our education structure. Please communicate with the classroom teacher prior to bringing treats or snacks to school.
