School Re-opening - Important Information
ParentVUE Survey
School will open on October 5, 2020.
The Enrolling Adult will need to fill out the survey in ParentVUE between:
Monday, September 7 and Sunday, September 20
https://parentvue.cobbk12.org/PXP2_Login.aspx
Your choice is for the SEMESTER
The sooner the survey is filled out the better. We only have 30% of our families who have filled out the survey. The survey is required for everyone. It will not default to a particular option and may risk your child's enrollment status if not completed.
Masks Required
No Visitors in the building
Parents who are checking in scholars late, will still need to come in the building to sign-in the scholar, but only 3 allowed in the building at a time for social distancing. If you are checking out early, you must do so prior to 1:15pm.
Visitors will not be allowed in the front office area and may not go past the front lobby, unless in the building for a scheduled appointment/meeting. No drop-ins.
Food Service will continue
The District also announced FREE meal kits to families until the end of December.
Families who chose remote learning will pick up meals (after October 5) at Lindley Middle School or Pebblebrook High School.
You will still need to fill out Free/Reduced Lunch forms by September 24.
Free/Reduced Meal Applications
- The number of Free/Reduced affects our Title I status and monies we are awarded for support of our scholars' education.
- It will also affect your ability to apply for P-EBT as you must qualify for Free/Reduced meals to get those funds.
- You will also have to pay for your own meals from January until May, if you do not fill out this application soon.
Class Sizes
Scholar Transitions
Specials/Enrichment: Scholars will transition to PE, Art and Music. STEM, Writing, Health and Counselors will push-in to the classroom. Scholars will also transition to recess for a minimum of 20 minutes a day.
Lunch: We will operate on an A/B day schedule to eat in the cafeteria for lunch. So scholars will eat in the cafeteria on either Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday.
Breakfast: All scholars will eat in the classroom. Breakfast will be grab and go. We will separate 2 grade levels per line to pick up their breakfast to head to the classroom.
How will teaching look?
Scholars who are face-to-face will only be in the building MONDAY, TUESDAY, THURSDAY and FRIDAY. School will be closed on Wednesdays for cleaning, but teachers will still hold small groups on this day.
Teachers will be provided with a camera for their flat panel board and a Bluetooth microphone to support remote teaching. The remote teaching day will be from 7:50am - 2:00pm. Your child's teacher will send the grade-level schedule by next Friday, September 18 so you'll know when your child will be on lunch and recess breaks.
Scholars learning remotely, will continue to login to CTLS Learn to access their teacher and classroom instruction.

School Supplies
- Pencil Pouch
- Writing Utensils
- Crayons or Coloring Pencils

- Scissors
Please send these items with the scholar each day.
Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Hand Sanitizer stations are provided throughout the building
- A bottle of hand sanitizer has been provided for each classroom
- All classrooms have a sink, so scholars will be encouraged to wash their hands regularly.
- All scholars and staff are required to wear mask, so please make sure scholars are wearing them. You may also buy them a face shield if you would like added protection.
- The District has installed ProTek UV-light boxes in each classroom that will scan each night and disinfect every surface the UV-light touches.
- Two water bottle filling stations will be available as scholars cannot use the water fountains. Scholars are encouraged to bring a water bottle (not plastic bottles) so they can refill them with water. Plastic bottles cannot be filled at these stations.
If you know any companies that would like to donate items, we would love the following: hand soap pumps, disposable gloves, hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes
DEVICES
The LAST DAY to pick up a device is Monday, September 14 from 2:00-4:00pm. You can send someone who is on your emergency contact list. All devices will be shipped back to the District on Tuesday.
If you did not request a device prior to September 4, there is no longer a waiting list. You can call the school to give your child's name, but we will not be able to check availability until October 5 after we've attempted to contact all families who were on the original waiting list.
ASP
ASP will remain open until 6:00pm and closed on Wednesdays for cleaning.
Families will not be allowed to enter the building to pick up scholars for ASP until 2:45pm as we have to space out dismissal times. If you need to pick up your child prior to that, you will need to make them a car rider as all scholars who are signed up for ASP will be charged for ASP, even if picked up at 2:45pm.
Arrival Procedures
- Scholars who ride a bus that carries a 2nd load will be allowed in the building at 7:00am early to begin breakfast, so we can social distance scholars.
- All scholars with a single load will enter the building as normal at 7:10am, get breakfast if needed and head to the classroom.
- Kindergarten and First Grade Scholars will enter through the PE Hallway doors
- Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth will enter the cafeteria.
- Second and Third will enter one line and Fourth and Fifth the other
All scholars will eat breakfast in their classrooms.
CAR RIDERS:
- Car doors will not be opened by staff. All scholars must exit on the right side of the car (closest to the sidewalk) to exit the vehicle. For safety, families may not exit their cars. All scholars must be dropped off in carpool.
- A Police officer will be here to direct traffic in the morning.
- Only the front entrance should be used.
Dismissal Procedures
- We will dismiss car riders first. No one should exit their cars to get their scholar. All families MUST remain in their cars.
- Families needing car rider tags will be able to pick up car tags on Wednesday, September 23 between 12:00-2:00pm.
- Buses will be dismissed by bus color to minimize the number of scholars in the hallway.
- Buses that have a second load run, will be dismissed first
- Daycare Riders will be dismissed at 2:35pm, thus all Daycare Buses/Vans will not need to arrive until 2:40 to pick up those scholars. We want to limit the number of scholars in the gym at one time.
- ASP will not be dismissed until 2:40pm. Parents will NOT be allowed to enter the building to pick up ASP scholars until 2:45pm when all students have been dismissed.
