Good Morning High School Families,

This question has been on mind the last few days as we get ready to start this school year. With the negativity that can consume our news feeds, it is important to remember to ask ourselves what is going well? I have found if I ask myself this each morning, there are plenty of positive things happening throughout our lives. There are certainly challenges as well, but let's find time to ask ourselves this question routinely.

We are excited have your son or daughter at SHS to start the 2022/2023 school year, and know we have much to celebrate! Our staff will be in the building soon getting things ready to go for that first day. As with many "new" starts there can be a wide range of emotions that surround it. Whatever the word(s) are that describe this for you and your child, know that we will do our best to make this a great year!

Parents/Guardians of SCSD Students:

Annual registration for all new and returning students for the 2022-2023 school year is now available in PowerSchool. Instructions for completing the online annual registration forms can be found on the district website:

If you have already updated the online annual registration forms in PowerSchool prior to July 28, 2022, you will need to revisit and submit each form again since they have now been updated for the 2022-2023 school year. If you have any questions about the annual registration process, please contact your student’s school office.

If you have a new or returning student requiring transportation to and from school for the 2022-2023 school year, you must complete the annual registration process. Our transportation director will then be notified of the request and your student will be routed. For information regarding transportation, please contact Dave Johnson, Transportation Director, at 319-624-3401 x1328 or djohnson@solon.k12.ia.us.

Below you will see the schedule for our four blocks.

They will NO longer be free for all students.

Yes, students that want a locker will be able to request one....we will NOT be assigning every student a locker. A form will go out sometime during the week of 8.15 via their school email that asks students if they want one. Their number will then be emailed to them so they know where it is. If they choose not to have one, they can carry their items in the backpacks. If you have more questions, please reach out to the main office.

"Hi, my name is Katie Anderson and I am the new College and Career Transition Counselor here at Solon. It is my job to help students with the exploration of careers and colleges, as well as assist with admissions questions. I will also be assisting with Financial Aid and different Support Services, such as ACT and other entrance exams."
