Good Morning High School Families,

With summer winding down, we wanted to make sure you know how excited we are to have your son or daughter at SHS to start the 2021/2022 school year! Our staff will be in the building soon getting things ready to go for that first day.

Below you will see the building goals and priorities that have been established for the HS this year. We are excited to continue to find the very best way learn together! If you don't want to read everything below, feel free to click on the video and listen.

SCSD Annual Registration 2021-2022

The Solon Community School District opened annual registration on July 21, 2021, for the 2021-2022 school year. Parents and guardians who have updated information prior to this date should review each form as some forms have recently changed. Please make sure you complete all forms and pay all registration fees prior to August 16, 2021.

Information regarding transportation will be communicated soon. If you have immediate transportation questions, please contact Dave Johnson, Transportation Director, at djohnson@solon.k12.ia.us.

The district will continue to follow Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) guidance. The IDPH most recent guidance on COVID19 and other illnesses can be found in this link. It is important to monitor your child for symptoms and keep your child home if symptoms are evident as directed by public health.

Iowa law prevents mandating mask use, but the district welcomes their use by those choosing to wear them. We encourage everyone to consult with your personal family physician or health care provider with decisions related to COVID19 and other childhood illnesses.

Below you will find the new bell schedule for our academic day. This was communicated last spring, but we wanted to make sure everyone has it. More information will be coming out when we get closer to the first week regarding ZERO block and SEMINAR.

They will be free again this year for ALL students.

Yes, students that want a locker will be able to request one....we will NOT be assigning every student a locker. A form will go out sometime during the week of 8.19 via their school email that asks students if they want one. Their number will then be emailed to them so they know where it is. If they choose not to have one, they can carry their items in the backpacks. If you have more questions, please reach out to the main office.

Please help us in welcoming the following individuals to the SHS staff!

Arran Dall- Arran will be joining Dawn Fisher in the main office as one of our secretaries. HERE is a brief intro video if you want to put a face with a name. She is 2012 Solon graduate!

Nate Watson- Mr. Watson will be joining us from a district in Missouri. He and his wife have moved to the corridor and he is excited to be here! Check out his intro video HERE.

Elizabeth Hand- She will be joining our music department as our new 5-12 Co-Director of bands. Elizabeth will be student teaching this fall/January, but will begin full time in February. HERE is a brief video for those of you that don't know her.
