Week of August 5, 2017
4 Weeks down & the learning has been INCREDIBLE
The 2017-18 school year started fast and furious and we are already set to begin our second month of school. The amount of dedication that each and every McAllister Wildcat has poured into making this year the best yet is INCREDIBLE. Starting tomorrow, you have the opportunity to have lunch with your child as well as volunteer in the school (If you have completed training). Please remember that when having lunch with your student we have reserved a special seat for you - this is a time for you and them to connect (no cell phone distractions & no classmates).
Please take your time and read through this entire newsletter as it is jam packed with worthwhile information.
Changes to MORNING car rider line begin today! Tuesday, September 5, 2017
Parents,
The first four weeks of school have most certainly been INCREDIBLE. With our growing population of student car riders, we have tried multiple set-ups in an effort to ease congestion on Hwy. 144 as well as make the unload process at McAllister ES more efficient for you. Even 4 weeks into school, we are still experiencing some major growing pains due to the ever-growing population. Having said this, we will implement a new MORNING car rider route on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Please be patient as we continue to look for ways in which to improve our morning drop-off.
Key Points:
• PK-1st Graders and families with PK-1st grader students will continue to unload through the normal means by the 100 (PK/K Hallway).
• 2nd – 5th Grade Students will begin unloading on the same ramp that the bus riders currently occupy. We will maintain support in this area, but will not be able to open car doors – Please have your student prepared to exit when you arrive.

Helping Hands After Harvey
This past weekend I was able to connect with the Ridgegate Elementary School Principal (Ms. Felicia Holmes) in hopes that we could partner with her school in Houston, TX during these trying times that have recently been faced. In communicating with her, she told me stories of 1st year teachers that had recently re-located to Houston, TX and when disaster struck they lost everything, families that have little left to salvage and countless other staff members that have been significantly impacted by Hurricane Harvey. While their needs are extensive, her and I figured the best way to meet those needs would be through a gift card donation so that they could purchase the necessities to get the year started. McAllister Elementary School is asking all families to consider donating to Ridgegate ES in hopes that the start of their school year will be focused on educating young minds when students walk through the doors on September 12, 2017. In addition, please consider writing an encouraging letter to the recipient of your donation. All donations will be accepted through Friday, September 8, 2017.
This is a great opportunity to not only instill in our students the act of being selfless & charitable but also an opportunity to connect/collaborate with a school in another state.
Mornings with Miller - Friday, September 15, 2017 (7:45-8:25)
This will be an opportunity to visit the school and chat with the principal about whatever you would like. Only norms are: no agenda, limited cell usage and enjoy a second cup of coffee.
Please RSVP by clicking this link ( http://bit.ly/MorningsWithMiller) so that I may plan accordingly.
Picture Day set for September 21, 2017
