Telling Our Story
There are multiple platforms to tell our story, but please consider using Twitter and Aurasma to share our best work with students and families. Feel free to tweet @OMS_NY. Those of you who are more experienced with Instagram are encouraged to share with me any ways in which this application might serve the "telling our story" initiative.

Zaption
Turn online videos into interactive learning experiences that engage students and deepen understanding.
EDpuzzle
EDpuzzle is very similar to Zaption, though many who have implemented in the classroom have found EDpuzzle easier to use. Teachers choose the video to assign, create questions at set points in the video, and assign the video lesson to a class. Students, when watching the video, are not allowed to continue with the video until they have answered the question posed.
Vialogues
Vialogues (Video + Dialogue) allows teachers to upload videos and assign these videos for student review. Unlike YouTube and other players, Vialogues allows students to participate in a time-stamped dialogue while watching the video - posing questions and responding to the queries of classmates throughout the video.
ED.TED.COM
eduCanon
Educanon enables teachers to create engaging lessons with online videos and check student understanding in real-time with embedded assessments. The product was designed to help teachers make interactive lessons for students and help them the flip their classroom.
Nearpod
Designed with 1:1 or BYOD classrooms in mind, Nearpod allows teachers to create digital lesson plans, share it with students during class, and track individual progress. Lessons are comprised of teacher-created slides that can include text, video, images, websites, questions, quizzes, polls, and assignments. Students are able to follow the lesson on their own devices at their own pace or teachers can lead a synchronized session where students can follow the lesson in real-time.

A picture is really worth a thousand words. As a fundamentally visual medium comics provide scaffolding for students, bringing together visual and text based learning. Students can create a one-page comic illustrating a concept or a more complex multipage storyline in Comic Life. Incorporating photos and drawings to their narratives is a fun way for students to cement narrative arcs, demonstrate understanding and be creative!

Todays Meet
Enhance classrooms. Enable discussions. Empower students. TodaysMeet gives everyone a voice. Teachers can create chat-like rooms and encourage students to discuss concepts within them. Educators will need to post a question or topic, monitor, and potentially facilitate conversations to ensure students stay on task and learn from the discussion.
Remind
Remind (formerly Remind101) offers teachers a free, safe and simple way to instantly text students & parents. Teachers, coaches, or administrators can send reminders, assignments, homework, assessments, or motivational messages directly to students' & parents' phones.

Workshop - Targeted Instruction
As we continue to harness the power of the 1:1 model, it is important that we provide differentiated opportunities for students to examine curricula that is challenging, but also targeted to the specific academic and intellectual needs of individual students. To meet the building level goal of targeted instruction within our core extension model, varied resources will be shared throughout the year. The resources included below are just the tip of the iceberg, and I look forward to working with each of you to review other apps, websites, and activities that might strengthen our program.
Castle Learning
Teachers can quickly and easily search for content within Castle Learning to create their own assignments, or access pre-built, “ready-to-go” assignments and assessments.
