Check out what is happening at NMS!!
Congratulations Honor Roll Students
The 2nd quarter of a school year can be tough, as the work gets harder, but it is exciting to announce that 68% of our students maintained an average in their classes of 85% or higher!!
Thank you for your continued support of your child's work in school. Parental involvement is the #1 indicated of student success!!

Getting Ready for High School
Here are some helpful steps to assisting your student as they transition to high school:
1. Start Planning Now - make sure you know the expectations of the High School, and assist your student in getting ready early.
2. Explore your class requirements and options - develop a plan with your child about the classes they will take over the next four years.
3. Shore up weak areas - know your student's strengths and weaknesses, and help them improve in the areas they are not as strong in.
4. Improve study habits - students should have a good idea of how to prepare for assessments, and need guidance at home to create the proper environment for implementing these.
5. Work on Time Management - one of a student's weakest areas is always time management. Help you child prioritize and develop plans for getting work done in a timely manner.
6. Learn about extra-curricular and athletic opportunities at the high school - don't assume everything is the same. Know what is available and what you child is interested in.
7. Learn how to monitor grades and class performance - do you and your child know how to check grades on SchoolTool? Are there other ways that teachers communicate? Make sure you know, and your student is able to access these communication tools.
Parental involvement is critically important at all stages of learning, but especially as they enter new schools. Your role is to help them navigate their new pathways and support them in their learning. Guide them to making good choices on their own!!
