Updated Materials Training Steve Gill: ELL Critical Data Process

Overview Overview

zoom_out_map

This short, virtual training is designed for staff who have been previously trained in the Steve Gill ELL Critical Data Process. Some of the materials, including the Matrix, have recently been updated since the release of the 3rd Edition. Steve and his team have designed this mini-training in an effort to systematically bring users up-to-date with the revised materials. This mini-training is not to be considered a formal training to learn the ELL Critical Data Process itself.

The focus of this session is to first address the major changes to the ELL Critical Data Process and to the Matrix. Then, there will be time spent on some of the items to address key issues that have been discussed on a regular basis during training and consulting on the process. The final portion of this session will be a short discussion of a few highly problematic practices/issues that are common and have an adverse impact on the accurate assessment of language learners. There will be time for Questions and Answers directly related to this presentation and also questions in general regarding the ELL Critical Data Process.

Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency is hosting this virtual event. Participants across Iowa and the nation are welcome to attend. Only those who register (link below) will receive the Zoom link.

Steve started his career as a school psychologist in a district with a large ELL population. There he realized how little he had learned about language learners prior to this experience. Over the years, he completed graduate work in ELL studies, eventually creating the ELL Critical Data Process. As of writing this, Steve has trained over 21,000 educators on the process across the country and guests from multiple other countries. Steve is a co-author of nine books and is a past president of the Washington State Association of School Psychologists.
