February 2024
A note from Mrs. Panzer:📃
Hello, Central Families! Welcome to the second semester of your child’s learning journey at Central!
In February, some of our students will be taking an English language proficiency test. It’s called KELPA. We will be sending some Talking Points messages this week and next week to ask you to check with your child’s teacher if you have any appointments schedule for them. It is very important that your child not to leave for an appointment if they are in the middle of testing.
A quick reminder that we have Parent/Teacher Conferences coming up. Your child’s teacher will be communicating with you if they will meet with you in February or April or both. We always look forward to seeing families in the building!
Finally, I encourage you to take part in the parent group called Central P.I.E. The parent that is leading that is doing a terrific job of trying to get families involved in activities here at Central. There is a Facebook page. It is named Central Elementary School P.I.E. encourage you to join that if you are on Facebook. If you need information about how to contact the parent that is leading P.I.E, please call the Central office. 620.471.2105.
Wishing you all a fabulous February!
Librarian's Corner📚
January has flown by, hasn’t it. I’ve had a chance to read some great books to the students. I hope your child has been bringing home some great books to read. Be sure to ask them what they are reading and what they love about that book.
Next month is the book fair. The excitement is high in the building as I talk about it. We will be watching a video previewing some of the books coming in class. We will also be sending home a flyer with more books that will be in the fair. Be looking for that flyer. It will also tell you the days and time the book fair will be open. See you all there!
We also will be celebrating Read Across America the last few days of February. Again this year we will be welcoming in families and community members to read to our students. The schedule for this will come out in the middle of February.
Happy Reading
