First Day of School: This Monday is the first day of school! Our doors will open at 7:05. Teachers will pick up their students from the cafeteria at 7:30 and serve them breakfast in the classroom.. Due to security measures, parents will only be allowed into the building after we are able to check their IDs. However, we are not able to check in all parents during morning drop off, so we will continue to have the policy that parents must drop students off during morning arrival and are allowed past the office. This will be in place starting the first day of school.

Bell Schedule: Every day our doors will open at 7:05 and students will be monitored by our Teacher Assistants. Teachers arrive at 7:30 and the instructional bell rings at 7:40a. Students are counted tardy at 8:00a and must be walked into the office by an adult as the doors will be locked. Pre-K and Kindergarten students begin walking out for dismissal at 3:05 and the bell rings for all other students at 3:10p.

Dismissal Procedures: We appreciate your patience as we get things settled during the first week of school! Please have your dismissal car tag visible once you receive one, this helps speed things up! Please make sure you are prepared to wait in the dismissal line OR park on the street to come pick up your child. You may NOT park in the parking lots of the businesses or apartments near Galindo. Your car will be towed. Additionally, please ONLY park in a handicap spot if you have a tag, we have families that are in need of these spots.

AISD Heat and Weather Protocols: Here are the AISD guidelines for heat! Students will go outside if the weather is less than 110!! Recess and PE are only 30 min, so students won't be out for long! They will also have access to water breaks at least once per session if they forget a water bottle! Please send a labeled water bottle for your child!! Unfortunately, we no longer have access to cups or water bottles since all water fountains have been turned back on.

Laptops and iPads: AISD technology personnel are distributing laptops to all students the first week of school. Teachers will take students to the assigned room to pick up their new laptop or iPad during the school day. All devices will remain at school in their classroom this year.

Student Success Guide: The Austin ISD Student Success Guide (Student Code of Conduct) is now available on the Austin ISD District website for students, parents, and guardians to review. One important legislative update is that ALL e-cigarettes (THC and Tobacco) are prohibited. House Bill 114 requires a student to be placed in the District Alternative Education Program (DAEP) if the student possesses, uses, is under the influence, sells, gives, or delivers marijuana, THC, or an e-cigarette (new) while on campus, within 300 feet of school property, or at a school-related event. Under Austin ISD guidelines, this is a 20-day DAEP placement. Parents and guardians are strongly urged to talk to their students about this new policy and review the Student Success Guide to help keep our schools safe for students and staff.
