Meet Our Fantastic Four Dearborn Dolphins Admin Team
Meet out Admin Team from Left to Right:
I am Ms. “O”gbuagu and I am the APEIS (Assistant Principal, Elementary Instructional Specialist) here at Dearborn El. I completed most of my education in Nigeria where I grew up. I am half Nigerian and half Jamaican. I am married and we have 3 children. I work with a team of educators to help students with disabilities access the curriculum. I believe education opens up tremendous opportunities for students and new ways of thinking. To learn more about the SPED program here at Dearborn, catch me if you can ☺️!
My name is Yanira Villarreal (Mrs. V) and I'm Dearborn's Targeted Student Population Coordinator and Categorical Program Adviser. I have been an educator for over 18 years, and I've taught all grade levels from TK through 5th grade. I'm very passionate about supporting our DECA bilingual student population in achieving academic success as well as supporting ALL of our students in achieving their highest potential.
I have 3 amazing adult children with my high school sweetheart/husband. We just recently became grandparents to a beautiful baby boy and are head over heels in love with him. We enjoy traveling, have visited numerous countries and plan on continuing to travel the world. One fun fact about me is that I love to cook, and I know how to cook different ethic dishes.
My name is George Fuentes and I have the honor of being the principal at Dearborn Elementary. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I attended and graduated from an LAUSD school. As a teacher, I taught Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students in middle school and high school. I speak Spanish and I also know American Sign Language.
I am married with 3 children and two dogs. My oldest daughter is starting her senior year in college, my middle son is entering college as a freshman, and he is a student-athlete playing collegiate soccer at a division 1 school. My youngest son is starting high school, and he likes to play basketball. My two dogs are named Champ and Duke, they
are Shar-Peis.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy traveling around to watch my son play soccer. I also enjoy watching sports, my favorite teams are the Lakers, Dodgers, and Washington Commanders. My favorite food is a good classic double cheeseburger and pulled pork sandwiches. Fun Fact about me…I don’t eat seafood. That is Mr. Fuentes in a nutshell.
My name is Dr. Alana Burton. I started my educational career as a Kinder, 1st, 2nd and 5th grade teacher, then I transitioned out of the classroom as a Restorative Justice Teacher Adviser, Systems of Support Advisor, and APEIS before serving as a general Assistant Principal here at the fabulous Dearborn Elementary.
When I'm not working as an Assistant Principal or Instructional Facilitator for the district's intern program; I am with my family of 6 (husband, 2 kids, and 2 dogs), friends, relaxing at the beach, or eating delicious food at restaurants with great ambiance. My daughter just transferred to New Mexico to play volleyball and my son still lives at home and plays basketball in Los Angeles. We have two beautiful Siberian Huskies, one of which eats everything (apple chords, shoes, and pillows+). An interesting fact about me is that I am a multicultural dancer.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is known as the holiest day of the Jewish year
