Chromebook Basics

Welcome to Technology at DAIS for 2015-2016

This school year DAIS will implement Chromebooks in the classroom. Students in grades 4 and 5 will have the opportunity to engage with technology through the integration of Chromebooks with a 2 to 1 ratio. Students in grade 6 will experience a 1 to 1 ratio with a 1 to World initiative. The purpose of this flyer is to provide parents/guardians an introduction to web-based Chrome technology at DAIS.

Google Chrome Web Access

Students will be utilizing Google Chrome to access their school materials through their password protected Dallastown account (firstlastmi@dallastownsd.net). Google Chrome is a free and secure web browser that may be downloaded and accessed from any web-based device. To download: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html

Google Drive Web Access

Students will have secure web access to all of their files through Google Drive using their password protected Dallastown account (firstlastmi@dallastownsd.net). Google Drive allows access to student files from any web-based device 24-hours a day with unlimited free and secure storage.

Google Applications for Education

Students will access multiple applications for classroom collaboration, creation, and revision using application tools within Google Drive such as Google Docs (word processing documents), Google Sheets (spreadsheets), and Google Slides (presentations), etc. These applications are accessible from any web-based device 24-hours a day with unlimited free and secure storage.

Parent/Guardian Chrome Camp

Please join us September 22, 2016, for our DAIS Parent/Guardian 1 to World Chrome Camp to learn more about our Chromebook and Google Chrome technology integration.


6:30 pm - 8:00 pm in the DAIS Auditorium & iLibrary
