Smithfield Special Education Local Advisory Committee Meeting
Smithfield Special Education Local Advisory Committee (SSELAC) provides advocacy, information and community connection for Smithfield families whose children receive special education services. This is a volunteer group who welcomes parents, educators. providers and interested community members.
Local Food Ambassadors Program--Are you interested in getting more RI grown food into our school meals? Come and join us and learn how!
The goal of the Local Food Ambassador program is to raise awareness for Farm‐to‐School activities and encourage students to eat a greater variety of vegetables and fruits.
RI Healthy Schools Coalition and Farm Fresh RI work with school food service to train volunteers (parents & community members) on how to host cafeteria taste-tests featuring locally grown produce. Kids love it!
Since the cafeteria staff is so busy serving lunch, we launched this program for volunteers to conduct these tastings, which will help make tastings a more regular and fun practice at the schools.
Can you make a modest time commitment to be trained as a volunteer Local Food Ambassador in your district? Join us for a training session to learn how to organize a cafeteria taste-testing event by working alongside Farm Fresh RI & RIHSC staff during the lunch periods at the host school (see below). After the training session, you’ll be equipped to work with school food service to organize and lead future cafeteria taste‐testing events at any of your district elementary schools!

Screenagers--Do you find your kids glued to one screen or another? Join us at Smithfield High School to understand the impact screen time is having on our kids.
Do you find your kids glued to one screen or another? Join us to understand the impact screen time is having on our kids. This event is appropriate for upper elementary to adult age and will consist of a documentary followed by a Question and Answer session.
SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance!
Instead of cooking dinner tonight, have the LaPerche fifth grade students serve you and your family!
Please come and join us at Smithfield High School for our annual Pasta Dinner! Families will enjoy a delicious meal of salad, pasta, meatballs, bread and dessert served by the fifth graders. A form to sign up for the dinner will be shared with all soon.
Tickets-$7 adults, $4 children, max $20/family
