Caretakers,
In addition to a new science curriculum, we also adopted a new social studies curriculum called, myWorld Interactive by SAVVAS. This is the same company that houses our reading curriculum. Students and teachers will be utilizing both text in print and online. This curriculum meets the needs of the Kansas History, Government and Social Studies standards (HGSS). If you have any questions about this curriculum, please reach out and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have!
From the Library
Fall is here and there are so many great books we can pair with this time of year. In the library many students love to check out scary and Halloween stories for the month of October, but some of my favorites are the books about the seasons changing. I love how we can read about things and then notice them happening in our world. As you read with your children this fall be sure to make connections from the book to the real world.
I am also excited about our reading challenge happening this month. Read the Pumpkin Patch Challenge will be starting the first week of Octobers and running for two weeks. This has become a favorite challenge of the whole school and I can’t wait to see who rises to the challenge.
Happy Reading
- Mrs. Weil

Music Notes
Hi Central Families! In October, your students will continue to sing, play and move to music while working on their music listening and reading skills!
· Kindergarten is working on their four voices while incorporating a lot of movement, play and instruments!
· 1st grade has been playing and singing while learning our newest concepts “ta (quarter note)“ and “ti-ti (two eighth notes), heartbeat (steady beat)” and “the way the words go (rhythm).” We will continue to practice these concepts while we play Orff Instruments (xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels).
· 2nd grade is singing, moving, and playing! We will soon identify the rhythm that gets two beats (“ta-o” or half note) while continuing to practice the rhythms and pitches we already know. We will also spend some more time playing our Orff Instruments (xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels).
· 3rd and 4th grade students will begin preparing for their program! Please mark your calendars for December 7th at 6:30 p.m.! We can’t wait to share our talents with you!
· 5th grade students are rehearsing for their upcoming program “Kid Flix.” We will present our show on October 26th at 6:30 p.m. Please look out for notes and Talking Points messages regarding our show.
Thank you so much for your support of music in our school! Your children are excellent musicians!
