Oscar Howe families,
I have made the decision to retire at the end of the 2021-22 school year. My time at Oscar Howe Elementary has been filled with excitement, learning, challenges, and growth. We have the greatest students, and it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know and work with them. Oscar Howe is also blessed to have amazing parents.
Throughout my time here we have had so many parents step up and volunteer to help at school events and take a very active and productive role in our school. Your participation and support of your children and school staff make a huge difference. I know the positive relationships that were formed with parents during my time at Oscar Howe mean the world to me. These relationships made my job even more rewarding and helped me become more effective.
I will miss our students, staff, and families a great deal. I can’t thank people enough for the incredible opportunity I had to be the principal at Oscar Howe Elementary. It was a gift that I will always be grateful for. Thank you and I hope to still get the chance to see many of you around in our community.
Mrs. Laura DeVries will be the new principal next year. Mrs. DeVries currently serves as the Dean of Students at Susan B. Anthony Elementary. Mrs. Jodi DeHaven will remain at Oscar Howe in her current role as Dean of Students. I am confident the two of them will do a wonderful job leading Oscar Howe in the future serving students, families, and staff.
REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE.
Parents must log into their active Parent Portal account. There you should see an option for "More" on the left-hand side of the portal. The "Annual Student Information Update" link is within there. Parents should be able to update existing student information and/or add new students to their household at this time by selecting Add New Student on the Student Tab.
Parents please try to complete your annual information updates as soon as possible- but not using a phone to do so. It is still recommended that all Annual Updates are completed on either a desktop or laptop computer. Trying to complete an Annual Update on mobile devices may cause complications or the inability to submit.
For password questions, where to find the Annual Update within the Parent Portal, or any other question please call the office at 605-362-2752. Our last working day will be June 3rd, 2022. Thanks!
