Student of the Month
Olivia T.
Olivia is a kind and respectful person who exhibits these behaviors on a regular basis. She cares about others, our school, and the future of ND. It is nice to see a young person dedicated and will to work hard for what she feels is important, including her present and future education. Thanks for making a positive impact on Sargent Central.
Carter H.
Carter has been quietly working hard and improving himself both as a student and an athlete. He has been respectful to both teachers and peers. Carter has also been good about picking up after others and setting a good example all.

He will now compete for national recognition.
Rube Goldberg Machines
Physical Science students worked in pairs to construct a chain reaction with multiple machines that they had learned about in class. The tasks for each pair varied and included stapling paper together and turning on a water faucet.
Bobcat Engineering Presenations
A group of engineers from Doosan in Gwinner did a few activities with our 7th & 8th-grade students. The projects included a paper airplane distance challenge, an egg drop challenge, and a circuit battery challenge. Each student rotated through all three projects. The students really enjoyed the experience.
English IV Projects
Groups of students in English IV were tasked with creating a recreational area and doing a mock presentation to the city council. Students produced a 3D model of their project and wrote a business letter to accompany it.

Cadet Fitness Challenge
This challenge is done in gym class and students from grades 3-6 and 7-10 participate. Each challenge day consists of four different stations. A few examples of the activities are sit-ups, push-ups, mountain climbers, and jump rope. Each station is either done by an individual from a team or the whole team. Points are awarded after each challenge based on the performance, time it took, or number of reps completed.
R.O.P.E.S - ND National Guard
On March 7, 2023, the junior class participated in Ropes, an event conducted through the National Guard. During this time, the junior class learned to use communication, cooperation, and reasoning skills to complete tasks assigned to them. The first task the juniors had to complete dealt with ropes, and they were instructed to undo a knot that was tied in the center of their ropes without taking the ropes loops off their wrists; then, they were all knotted together in a circle and were told to undo all of the knots until everyone was completely separated. The second task consisted of a mat with six people standing on it and one person giving orders on the other side of the room; however, the people on the mat had to flip the mat over to the other side and couldn’t talk or step off it, but they completed the task despite screwups. The third task assigned to them involved crossing a “lava pit,” using only eight foam squares, which was then reduced to four; however, all managed to cross the pit safely, achieving the end goal. The fourth and final task dealt with hoops, where the class had to join hands and get a hoop from side of the line to the other without breaking the chain. With that, the event had concluded once the final task was complete, the juniors having learned the importance of good communication, cooperation, and reasoning skills.
ABLE Games
ABLE Games is the region's first all-inclusive functional fitness competition that celebrates all abilities. Sargent Central had two students competing in the Student Co-Ability division on March 31/April 1. They earned 3rd place for their efforts. Congrats!
