On behalf of the faculty and staff of Medway Middle School, I extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our families for the delicious soup luncheon that MSPTO sponsored for us before Thanksgiving. We truly appreciate the thoughtfulness of this gesture. Walking into a beautifully decorated faculty room to enjoy a warm home-prepared lunch was a much-needed treat. Grade 5 & 6 Movie and Pizza Afternoon- Wednesday, 12/13
Medway Middle is having a movie matinee on Wednesday December 13th from 2 to 4 after school. We are showing Disney Pixars Elemental. There will be a break halfway through the movie to serve pizza, please note that drinks will not be included, so we ask that the kids bring their own. The cost for this event will be $3. Also there is no late bus on a Wednesday, so students will need a ride home when the movie is over. All of this information can be found on the permission slip that will be sent home with your students.
Peer Leaders to Visit 6th Grade Classrooms
This year, we will continue the implementation of the World of Difference Peer Leader Program at Medway Middle School. One goal of this program is to further educate students on our District’s core values. We feel strongly that providing our students with additional learning experiences will provide them a valuable opportunity to learn and understand who they are as individuals and the importance of respecting, accepting, and celebrating human differences.
This fall, we identified students in grades 7 and 8 to become Peer Leaders. Peer Leaders participated in three full days of training and continued to meet after school weekly to plan lessons to share with our 6th grade students. The first of these lessons will take place on Friday, December 16th. The themes for the first lesson are self-identity and making connections with others. Peer Leaders plan to establish norms for respectful discussions and then lead sixth-graders in two activities.
We would like to thank our Peer Leaders for their dedication to this program and their willingness to share their learning with others. Special thanks are also extended to our faculty advisors Jennifer Lindsey and Julie Lafferty
Lost and Found- Please claim items by December 21st
Community Service members have been busy serving Medway Middle School by organizing our Lost and Found items. They have spent time hanging the found items in the hopes that our students will find any of their lost items. Please have your children look through our Lost and Found table before December 21st. If these items are not claimed by their rightful owners then they will be donated to a much needed organization.
Twin Day - Success!
On Wednesday, November 22nd, Medway Middle School was pleased to offer our 5th and 6th grade students the chance to participate in our traditional Twin Day celebration. Many students and faculty and staff members joined in the fun. Thanks to MSPTO for sponsoring the prizes for this event! Please see below for some photos from the celebration. A fun time was had by all.

Family Engagement Survey
As Dr. Pires shared in a recent communication, Medway Public Schools is asking all families to participate in a Family Engagement Survey. This information is being collected as part of our continuing efforts to understand your experiences with school staff and other families at your child(ren)'s school(s). Your responses on this survey will help us develop a better understanding of your experiences and, in turn, allow us to work to establish practices to more meaningfully foster relationships between you, the teachers, the principal, and other families at your child(ren)'s school(s). You only need to complete one survey per family. Your responses are voluntary and will be confidential. You will not be individually identified. No one will know how you answered, and there will be no follow-up contact from the school. Please think about your child(ren) who attends our school(s) as you respond.
The survey link can be found here.

Say Something Anonymous Reporting System
Last week, our students participated in the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System training.
The Say Something Anonymous Reporting System training supported youth and adults to recognize warning signs -- especially within social media -- of individuals who may be in crisis and to tell a trusted adult directly or via the anonymous reporting system.
Specifically, the Say Something program educates participants to:
Recognize the warning signs of someone who may be at risk of harming themselves or others.
Take every warning sign and threat seriously; act immediately to get help by talking to a trusted adult OR reporting it through the telephone hotline, mobile app, or website that is available 24/7/365 days a year.
Sustain the curriculum and awareness via student clubs, in-school activities, call-to-action weeks, and ongoing training.
Students can report a tip in the following ways:
- Tell a trusted adult
- Report a tip through the telephone hotline that is available 24/7/ 365 days year
- 1-844-5-SAYNOW
- Utilize the mobile app
- Say Something SHP
- Report a tip through the website that is available 24/7/365 days a year
