Principal's Message

Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!

With the weather cooling and school feeling like it is back in full swing, we are excited for our Homecoming Festivities, with our parade, football game, and dance capping a busy week next week. It really does feel like fall.

From your feedback, we are holding teacher conferences via Zoom again this year. They are scheduled for Wednesday, October 19. Mark your calendars. We will send out sign up information the week of October 10.

We are pleased to offer the ACT and pre-ACT again this year. The test will be on November 1. There is a link to additional information in this newsletter.

Schedules:

We have all of our athletics schedule all in one place on our master athletic schedule. This includes game times, locations, and bus departure times. It is updated real-time by your athletic department. Go to this link to see the current schedule, which is subject to change with little notice.

Community Homecoming Parade

Please join CHS and celebrate Homecoming with this year’s Homecoming Car Parade on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 5:45pm starting at Knight Elementary, weaving through downtown, and ending at Wait Park. See you there!

Homecoming

The dance is Saturday, October 8

7:30pm-10pm in the HS Cafeteria

Dress is semi-formal

Tickets are $10, payable by cash, card or check

CHS will be selling tickets in person at lunch during Homecoming Week in the main office hallway. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.

Bring your student ID to the dance. Coat check will be available and cold water for sale $1.

Canby Jr Basketball

CJB is looking for high school students to become officials! The season runs from mid November to March. If you're interested contact Chris Scharmota at 503-891-6657.

Attendance at CHS

To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:

If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-excused absence forms need to be turned into the Attendance Secretary 24 hours PRIOR to leaving for the absence.
To report an absence, call our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Please report an absence as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after the absence.

Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.

College & Career Center:

Canby High School College & Career Center will be hosting a College Goal Oregon event on Wednesday October 26th, from 6:00pm-8:30pm in the CHS Library.

This is a free event where you can get help completing your FAFSA or ORSAA and learn more about finding funds for college or trade school.

Please look for additional information in the weeks leading up to our event.
