Little Food Pantry By St Mary's
Our Little Food Pantry is up and filled with snacks for those who need it. It is right next to the Little Library in front of church at 730 Madison Ave. If you are in need of food, feel free to take something. If you are able to donate food, you can do that as well by placing your non-perishable (doesn’t need to be in the fridge) donation right in the cabinet. The door has very strong magnets to keep the critters out, so you need to pull hard on the handle.
We hope that this pantry will be a welcome addition to our neighborhood, helping those who really need it.

Battle of the the Books
The statewide Battle of the Books’ program is designed to promote a love of reading among our students. It encourages students to read a variety of books and remember information about the plots, characters, and settings of the books. Every question asked in a battle is answered by the title and author of the book. (Example: Name the book in which a horse and a boy are stranded on an island.) It is a fun, academic-based competition that has been very successful in school districts throughout the state in encouraging students to read.
A Battle of the Books’ team consists of two to four members from either fourth or fifth grade. Students interested in participating will begin reading in October and meet periodically during their lunch recess with their coaches to create teams, discuss the books, and practice. In January, teams will battle each other by taking team tests on the books. The winning team from OES will represent our school in the statewide online battle held the last week in February. Winners of the statewide competition will be announced in the first week of March. There will also be a celebration for all participants at the local level!

Care Solace - Mental Health Support
The School District of Omro continues to be committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families to create a safe and healthy learning environment. In support of our ongoing commitment, we've partnered with Care Solace to provide an additional layer of care for our school community. The School District of Omro is piloting this partnership with the help of a mental health-focused grant through the Get Kids Ahead Initiative.
Care Solace helps individuals find mental health care providers and substance use treatment centers. Their care team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and 365 per year to quickly connect you to carefully verified providers in our community. Students, families, and staff members may access Care Solace services in the following ways:
● Contact your child's school counselor, to ask for assistance for a referral
● Call (888) 515-0595 at any time. A dedicated Care Companion will help you every step of the way to research options, secure appointments, and follow up to make sure it is a good fit.
● For an anonymous search, answer a few questions to get matched with an extensive list of care
providers at https://www.caresolace.com/site/omro
Care Solace is now available at no cost to our students, families, and staff members. They will connect you with providers accepting all medical insurances including Medicaid, Medicare, and sliding scale options for those without insurance. All information entered through the Care Solace tool is completely confidential and securely stored.
Please note: This service is an optional resource available by choice and is not mandatory to use. Care Solace is not an emergency response service or mental health services provider. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273-8255.
Well Badge Resource Center
Well Badger Resource Center is an information and referral (I&R) service for Wisconsin individuals and families. Information and referral services create and maintain databases of programs and services, and then make sure, through a variety of channels and outreach, that you and others in your community know about those services.
Well Badger is a one-stop connection to community, social, health, and government programs and resources — so you can find what you need, when you need it.
The Navigator is a free, confidential, online tool designed to help parents, caregivers, and professionals navigate mental and behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and young adults under the age of 21! Just answer a few questions about the child, and the Navigator provides a customized guide to connect the child with the resources and support they both need and deserve.
