We just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Remember we have school on Monday, November 21st and November 22nd. We are out of school on Wednesday, November 23rd-Friday, November 25th. We will return to school on Monday, November 28th. Enjoy your time off with family and friends.

Thank you to Lisa Gleeson and her family for painting our wonderful Paw prints with numbers on the sidewalks in the front of the school. It helps with making pick up safer and more efficient for our students. Thank you for spending a Saturday to get this done. Weathersfield School appreciates you.

Students in Mrs. Fuller's first grade class built Turkey traps after reading the story, " How to Catch a Turkey." Great job with the traps students. Such innovative ways to catch a turkey.

Every year, on the first real snow, the first graders at Weathersfield School celebrate Snowflake Bentley. This tradition is a favorite of both the students and the teachers! We sip delicious hot chocolate while we learn about Wilson Bentley, a Vermonter who loved snow so much that he wanted to figure out a way to photograph individual crystals. Snowflake Bentley is a story of perseverance, as capturing images of snow is a difficult task. It is also a story of the uniqueness of life - no two snow crystals are exactly alike.

After learning about Wilson Bentley, the first graders get to make their own beautiful snowflakes out of paper. We practice perseverance, as making little cuts can be tricky. We discover that none of our snowflakes are the same either, just as each first grader is unique and special in their own way.

Our first grade students performed at our K-5 assembly this morning. They shared the poem and song, "Chicken Soup and Rice." They led this part of the assembly all by themselves. It was amazing to watch them take the lead and incorporates the seven habits into their production. Great Job! Our morning assemblies usually last around 15 minutes. The next K-5 assembly will be on Friday, January 13, 2023. Families are welcome to attend.

On Wednesday, November 16th, we had our community Thanksgiving meal. It was great to see so many Weathersfield families joining together for a meal. Thank you to our kitchen staff for doing such a phenomenal job on the meal. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberries and a roll, made a fantastic, filling, fun meal with our families.

Remember to wear your Weathersfield clothing on Fridays. Show your school spirit by wearing red and black.

Booster Club: If you are interested in being a part of the newly formed Booster Club, please contact Carrie. We would like to gather before Thanksgiving or the week after. This group could continue to build excitement and pride around our sports programs.
