Marian Central Friday Focus
279th Issue - January 12, 2024
From the Desk of Kelly Hilton
I’d like to start this new year by expressing sincere gratitude for our beloved Marian parents. There is no question that being a parent is a true gift in so many ways. By the same token, it can also be the most tiring and emotionally taxing role we take on in our lives. There are days we’re called upon to be chefs, therapists, personal assistants, doctors, spiritual directors, pharmacists, law enforcement officers, event planners, crisis negotiators, mechanics, IT specialists - the list goes on. You might feel like you’ve lived a lifetime even before 8:00 am.! For all you do, all you are, and for the many sacrifices you make to give your children the gift of a Marian Central Catholic education – thank you!
We are blessed in the Guidance Department to partner with you in support of your students and January is one of our busiest months! We are currently working with the Development Office building the incoming Class of 2028. Acceptance letters are going home soon, and our future Hurricanes will be choosing their freshman year classes later this month. The excitement is equally high as we support our seniors as they take on their final semester in high school and make college admissions decisions. Our freshman class will be introduced to our college/career search platform called SCOIR and the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will be completing a career assessment to assist with future planning on SCOIR this month. We’re also busy firming up details and presenters for our annual College Admissions Night, which is scheduled for Wednesday, January 24, Finally, we round out the month and begin February by meeting with all freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to get them ready for online course registration for the 2024-2025 school year.
On behalf of the entire Guidance Department, we wish you many moments of peace and sanity in the new year!
Mrs. Kelly HIlton
Guidance Director
