A MESSAGE FROM OUR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL:

Research has shown that the simple act of writing a goal greatly increases the chances of accomplishing the goal.

If the goal is broken down into action steps and the action steps are tracked, goals have an even greater percentage of success.

At school, your child may write his or her academic and personal goals in a Leadership Notebook. You will gain a lot of information on how your child is doing if you ask your child to tell you about his or her goals. We call these WIGS, Wildly Important Goals.

The goals chosen are meaningful to your child so be sure to practice Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. We invite you to join us on Thursday, January 31 for a drop in anytime beginning at 6pm until 7:30pm to let your child share his/her Leadership Notebook with you! The joy and satisfaction they will gain from sharing this with you is priceless!

The Leadership Notebook idea can also be used in your home. Create goals such as reading together, eating dinner at the table, or doing an activity together. Involve everyone in the family in choosing a meaningful goal and action steps. Post the goal and the action steps in a visible place and be sure to track and celebrate progress.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW - JANUARY 31

January 31 is our STUDENT SHOWCASE EVENT! Your child is preparing now to share his/her LEADERSHIP NOTEBOOK with you! Did you know that your child is setting personal and academic goals? We call these WIGS. WIG stands for a WILDLY IMPORTANT GOAL! Also, students will share with their parents the many ways in which they lead in their classroom and our school! If your child doesn't have a leadership role, yet, we will be on hand to show you how your child can get involved by applying for these opportunities!

We hope to see you here at Pontiac on January 31 beginning at 6pm!

Second Grade will be performing at 6:00 pm so please have your students here by 5:45 pm. Thanks

Jump Rope for Heart - A Message from Coach Davis

Our Kid's Heart Challenge (Jump Rope for Heart) is coming up! In order to get ready for this awesome month long fundraiser and celebration, we need your help!

If you go to http://www2.heart.org/goto/PontiacElem and click "sign up" to register your student/s, then we will be ready to raise some money for a great cause, and it's completely free to register! The classes that have the most students sign up will also earn a POPCORN PARTY!!!
