Our first All-School Assembly was SUPER! We had a special guest teach us about being a superhero: Be kind, be helpful, and Always do your best!
Fun to see our students show some spirit on our first Dove Spirit Day!
Mrs. Park's class enjoyed exploring and observing with some science tools.
The jitters went away when Mrs. Clary's class and Mrs. Smith's class tried some Jitter Juice and then graphed who likes it!!
Mrs. Blackburn's class loved meeting their 5th grade buddy and reading books with them!
Interested in seeing your child's classroom? Want to know what we'll be learning about? Come join us at Curriculum Night. If you are unable to attend, we will be sending the powerpoint via email/hardcopy too. :)
Paying for Meals
GCISD will begin charging for meals this year. To see if your child qualifies for Free or Reduced Meal Pricing, please click HERE and complete the form.
To add money to your child's meal account, please send a check to school with them or drop it by the front office. **Pro Tip** Download the My School Bucks App from your App Store. You can add money directly to your child's meal account, track their spending, and receive notifications when their meal account runs low!
Breakfast- $1.65
Breakfast will be served 7:20-7:35 each morning, and students needing to grab a breakfast before heading to their classrooms should arrive as close to 7:20 as possible each day! Breakfast will be eaten in the classroom. Please communicate with your child's teacher if you need them to get breakfast from the cafeteria.
Lunch- $2.80
When will my child eat lunch?
Lunch times vary by grade level, but each grade level will have 30 minutes in the cafeteria. 30 minutes will fly by! If sending a lunch from home, please practice with your child how to open the containers by themselves.
If buying a lunch from the cafeteria, students will go through the serving line and choose a milk, entree, and sides.
Healthy Snacks... Healthy Brain!
Please pack a healthy snack for your child's afternoon snack! Foods such as carrots, yogurt, apple sauce, fruits, pretzels, etc are encouraged!
Unhealthy foods such as chips, cookies, donuts, candy, etc. will not be allowed and we will ask your child to save it for home. If you have any questions, please email your child's teacher.
Dove Behavior Expectations
This year all of DOVE students will be using the CHAMPS system in their classrooms and common areas to set the expectation of behaviors expected. CHAMPS stands for Communication, Help, Movement, Participation, and Success. Before a different activity or going into a common area teachers and students will review the expectations for each of the letters "CHAMPS" so that all students can be successful!
Dove's 4 Bs for Behavior Expectations
BE Respectful
BE Responsible
BE Safe
BE Ready to Learn
This week your student will be talking with their peers about what these school-wide expectations look like. Please help reinforce these expectations at home.
Please have your child bring headphones and charge their iPads every night!
Also - Please send headphones with your student sometime this week (no earbuds please!). These will remain in our classroom for the year. These will be placed in baggies and will be used only by your student.
Is your student going to be absent?
If your child is absent, please notify your child's teacher via email or call the school at (817) 251-5700.
It is required for Dove to keep track of absences and the reasons why. Thanks for your cooperation!
