A Message From Mrs. Burko
I hope you and your families have had a restful and healthy Labor Day weekend. As we begin week four of the school year there is a lot of information to be shared.
On Thursday, September 10th at 6:30 we will host a virtual Back to School on WebEx. We will share information about iReady Diagnostic testing, standards based grading, supporting the social emotional health of your child(ren), Study Synch (our new ELA curriculum) and more. We're looking forward to "seeing" many of you there. The links for WebEx will be sent via email, posted on the website, Facebook and Twitter.
Many of you have reached out asking about a place for parents to view upcoming assignments. We've created a resource that you can find here. There is also links to our virtual staff yearbook where you can meet our staff, the remote learning codes for your student's classes, and resources for technology support.
Although we aren't in the school building, there are guidelines for online learning including utilizing the chat box and microphone appropriately. If this becomes an issue, teachers will be reaching out to let you know.
Don't forget, students should be completing their Qualtrics survey daily. Teachers and counselors are working diligently to call parents if students are present but not submitting work to ensure that students have everything they need to be successful.
Finally, thank you for your feedback on our Assistant Principal search. I appreciate your insight.
As always, if there is anything I can do to support you our your child(ren) please do not hesitate to reach out and let me know how I can help. Wishing you a great week.
Yours in Service,
Mrs. April Burko
Principal

Athletics
Greetings Culbreth Family,
Virtual Athletics start 9/14. Our district Athletic Directors and Coaches have put a lot of work into creating virtual workouts, skill development, and virtual competitions. Make sure your 7th or 8th grader is registered on 8to18. Link - https://nc.8to18.com/Culbreth
Your child must have a physical to participate. If your child received a physical after 3/1/19 they are good for the 2020/21 school year. New physicals may be emailed to Jon Evans - jevans@chccs.k12.nc.us
The physical form can be downloaded off the front page of 8to18. If you have questions about practice, please email your child's coach. Coaches contact info is on the front page of 8to18. If you have questions about registration or physicals please email Jon Evans.
Go Cougars,
Jon Evans
Athletic Director
A Message from Ms. Mazva-Cohen, Social Worker
We at Culbreth are learning, working and playing in a community of support and engagement. We'd like to invite you to participate in the Cougar Care program. The Cougar Care program matches donors with those in need - all within our CMS family.
Cougar Care: Families Helping Families
Cougar Care is a program in which CMS Families can help other CMS Families when they need items such as food, furniture, sports equipment, or any other need that may arise.
How does it work?
Step One: If you are interested in being added to the list of potential donors, contact CMS Social Worker Stefanie Mazva-Cohen (smazva-cohen@chccs.k12.nc.us) and your name will be added to the list.
Step Two: You may periodically receive an email regarding a specific item that is needed.
Step Three: Ms. Mazva-Cohen will coordinate donation logistics with you.
Step Four: Item will be delivered to the Cougar family who needs it.
If you have questions about Cougar Care please contact Stefanie Mazva-Cohen, School Social Worker at smazva-cohen@chccs.k12.nc.us
