Math Challenge is a free enrichment program sponsored by the Newport Heights PTA. No-sign up is necessary. All students K to Grade 5 are invited to participate.
First Challenge available starting September 24th HERE
There will be 15 challenges throughout the school year to engage students in interesting math problems that strengthen their calculation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and improve their confidence.
This program is completely voluntary, but we hope all students and families will join us in this fun STEM learning experience! Every student who completes a challenge will have their name submitted into a drawing to win a small prize and be recognized on our Math Challenge “Wall of Fame.” Students who complete 12 or more of the challenges will be recognized with a certificate at the end of the school year.
If you have any questions, please email Anne Figge at mathchallenge@nhe-pta.org.

Join or Renew Your PTA Membership Today
Currently only 22% of our students are represented in PTA by an important adult in their life. Please consider joining up with us to give a voice in the PTA to your family and your child.
Join the PTA today and help us achieve our mission to promote partnerships between home, school and community; engaging with every family so that every NHE student will learn and thrive.
Together, we can achieve our 2021-2022 membership goal that:
“Every NHE student is represented in PTA by at least
one important adult in their lives.”
There is NO obligation or expectation to volunteer or attend meetings. (But we do LOVE to meet members and find fun opportunities for those that want to help!)
Membership assistance is available. We do not want funds to stand in the way of those that want to join. Please email president@nhe-pta.org to request a confidential scholarship.
Pass The Hat - General Fundraiser
Pass the Hat is the primary fundraiser for supporting our PTA. All donations are greatly appreciated as we try to reach our goal of $30,000 for the 2021-22 school year. We are just below 20% of the way to our goal.
Every dollar contributed to our Pass the Hat fundraiser goes directly to support the programs offered by the PTA. A donation of $100 covers our spending per student, but any amount is appreciated. Every dollar counts!
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING NEWPORT HEIGHTS STUDENTS!
We are a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Our Tax ID number is 91-1208399.
PTA Legislative Assembly
The 43rd Annual Legislative Assembly will take place in a virtual format on October 23 and 24, 2021. The purpose of legislative assembly is to determine the legislative priorities of Washington State PTA, to educate and mobilize advocates, and to advance WSPTA’s legislative program.
Newport Heights PTA has the ability name four (4) delegates this year.
At legislative assembly, you will discover the power PTA has to advocate for every child – the whole child – regardless of race, creed, gender, or zip code. In PTA, every member has an equal voice, and your input matters a great deal to the success of our member-driven platform.
Deadline to name delegates is Thursday, September 30th

Staff Spotlight
Hello! My name is Alisha Singh. I have been part of the Newport Heights community for 23 years! I have been a second grade teacher and a third grade teacher, sometimes both at the same time! I love teaching and I am so happy I get to do it at Newport Heights! My family is a true Newport Heights family, my son and daughter are both proud graduates of Newport Heights. My son Ryan is a junior at Newport High School now and my daughter Mia is an eighth grader at Tyee. My husband, Reuben is not a Newport Heights graduate, but he has spent enough time here, he may as well be! I love teaching and helping students realize how smart, friendly, and curious they are! I am a proud Canadian, born in Toronto and raised all over the west coast of Canada! When I am not at school, I love reading, traveling (especially to Canada!), learning new recipes, exploring new places, shopping, working out, spending time with family and friends, and sipping on a nice hot cup of tea.
