It's getting near the end of the school year
After a full week of May, and some rain and cool weather, I hope that we're heading into the homestretch with some momentum. Lots of school activities are planned in May and these, as well as the weather, can sometimes be a distraction. Having a consistent night time ritual with ample sleep becomes even more important at this time of the year. The staff and I are looking forward to finishing strong with your children and making the days count instead of counting the days.
Tuesday's Choir Concert
One of my favorite things about our school is our concerts. It's always a joy for me to be able to listen to our students perform and to see how are directors bring a diverse group of students together to showcase their talents. Tuesday night was a wonderful concert filled with laughter, an occasional bad joke, and lots of singing. Thanks to our students for sharing their talents with us and for Mrs. Rodden's efforts preparing our students for the big night. It was a tremendous concert.
Spring Book Fair
We will be having a Spring Book Fair this year, but it will be online only. The dates of the Book Fair are May 2nd-6th. You can find out more about the Book Fair using this link.
*The sale ends on Saturday!
The entire 5th-8th grade Choir singing to end the concert
PTO Student Grants
The PTO encourages all students to apply for a grant. Please see below for details.
Applying for a student grant is easy! Grants are due tomorrow!
Step 1: Come up with an idea that will help many students or the entire school.
Step 2: Apply online at mertonpto.org > Forms > Student Grants by 5:00 p.m. on May 6, 2022. A parent can help.
Step 3: By the end of May, PTO will determine which student’s grants are approved!
Career Day is Friday, May 13th
Merton Intermediate School will be hosting a half day career event on Friday, May 13, 2022. The event will take place between 8:30 - 11:30 at Merton Intermediate School. We have enough speakers but we could really use more volunteers to do mock interviews. We are looking forward to providing our 6th-8th graders with some valuable information and opportunities. All questions & interest can be sent to Jackie Krajewski at krajewskij1@merton.k12.wi.us.
Thank you for your consideration.

Homework Club
Homework Club is up and running on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Homework Club is held in the library from 4:15-5:15 and is a chance for students to work on their homework, work on group assignments, or get organized. There is no need to sign up and all are welcome to attend.
*The final date of Homework Club is Tuesday, May 24th.
No requests for homework in advance of vacations
Dousman Transport is hiring bus drivers
As we look forward to future staffing and the possibility of some driver retirements, we were hoping that you could run a notice for “driving the bus” in your weekly newsletter or other forms of parent/community communication publications. The bus driving opportunity is perfect for stay at home moms, retirees, and others who work part time or have mornings or afternoons free.
