Principal's Message

Week 6 of Term 2
Dear Ross Families,
Thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped make Saturday's Holiday Festival such a joyful and successful event.
December 6-10 is Inclusive Schools Week. The purpose of the week is to celebrate the progress that schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population, including students who are marginalized due to disability, gender, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference, and other factors.
Suggested Read Aloud: I Am Not a Label by Cerrie Burnell, available at public library.
DCPS surveys elementary students in Grades 3-5 to assess their Social-Emotional learning and feelings of being loved, challenged and prepared in school, which helps inform information about our inclusive nature. Our Fall 2021 survey results indicate a 97% student satisfaction rate, up 1% from last Spring.
Thank you to all families who shared photos and descriptions with Ms. Emminger of how our diverse community celebrates holidays this time of year. Please enjoy the photos linked here Ms. Cirillo and Ms. Emminger have created a wonderful display for students and staff.
Warm Regards,
Holly Searl, Principal
MySchoolDC Lottery
The lottery is for all PK spots in DCPS and most charters as well as for families seeking to attend a school outside of their assigned neighborhood school. Current Ross students DO NOT need to apply to the lottery to remain at Ross for the 22.23 school year. All current Grade 5 students feed into Franics-Stevens MS and Cardozo EC in addition to your assigned MS based on your home address. Families who want a different MS match must apply to the MySchoolDC lottery.
